perhaps the RoC ought to expell Israeli embasy from Cyprus.

Green Light from Tel Aviv to direct flights to the TRNC
Turkish Cypriot daily VATAN newspaper (18.02.07) reports under the above title and says: Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, gave important signals as regards the starting of direct flights from Tel-Aviv to the TRNC. Olmert, for direct flights to the TRNC which is a favourite place for Israeli tourists, pointed out the EL-AL which was privatized.
During Olmert´s meeting with the Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and the Foreign Minister Gul, direct flights to the TRNC was on the agenda as well.
Erdogan and Gul raised this issue in the context of steps towards removing of isolations on the TRNC and, following this request, Olmert said that something could be done on this.
Pointing out the EL AL which was privatized recently (Olmert) said: You know we have recently privatized the EL-AL. They are a trading company now. You know we have opened up the path before the businessmen and we will continue to do so. We do not meddle in their affairs. We do not talk to them but you can go and talk to them. Olmert went on and added: Go and talk to them, we will not be in your way.
As for the TRNC´s request to open a trade or tourism office in Tel Aviv, Olmert said: I have received your request, I will look into it and I will reply as soon as possible. It became known that Mr Olmert will evaluate this request from the point of common undertakings that exist between Israel and the EU.

There's no confirmation of this story, and since El Al has just stopped flights to Pafos and Larnaka because of cost and security reasons, it seems unlikely that they'd start them up to a legally disputed destination.

Lets not get too excited here, regarding direct flights to Ercan by El Al. All Ehud Olmert did was, just to wash his hands off the whole matter, regarding direct flight, by just throwing a "bone" at Erdogan and Gul by saying, El Al can do what ever they want, because they are, are private entity, and we don't tell them what to do. It is hardly any endorsement from Israel for direct flights. I'm only translating, what was reported above, so please, do not shoot the messenger....ME.

Was that, that difficult to understand Paaul12.

El Al has recently stopped flights to Larnaca and Pafos so there is capacity to incorporate another destination.

One of their own, an (Israeli) was recently arrested coming in via Laranca with paperwork on him regarding property in the north. We all know that Israel is one country that is prepared to stand up for its citizens regardless of the consequences.

The Israelis have been extremely busy in the TRNC, again this will not go unnoticed by the Israeli government, and I am sure they will do whatever they can to allow the smooth running of all business transactions.

In the long term, there is the water pipe line, once this becomes operational I am sure Israel would like to have a piece of the action, again good business planning for the future, water is a very desirable commodity in that part of the world, and if you have got plenty of it, and the capability of distribution, I think I know which side the Israelis would want to be on.

Finally Israel will not take any C**p from anyone, if they feel it is right for Israel they will do it regardless, you cant knock them for that, perhaps other governments might learn a thing or two from them, instead of thinking of everyone else, how about thinking about their own people for a change.

Is that, that difficult to understand Kikapu?

As long as you understand what you read and write means something to you, then I should leave it at that.

However, I'm a little curious about the water pipes. We have water in the "TRNC" that we are about to pipe it to the Israelis, or was it the other way around. Where did we get all this water from anyway.?

So EL AL stopped flying to the RoC because there wasn't enough business, and now you think they will fly to another part of Cyprus the "TRNC", which has at best, 3rd of possible market as the RoC, as far as population is concerned, and they will do this because one of their citizens got in trouble for inappropriate transactions in the "TRNC". I do not think, the CEO of EL AL gives a damn about the person who was arrested, in the RoC. He wants to make money for EL AL, or else, he would be thrown out on his backside.

I still remember discussing with a moron in the past who kept on laughing even when I proved him that he cannot have direct flights from Sweden or UK. He just couldn't understand.

What was his name, what what his name...
