totaly agree richard if your trained or skilled at a job you will get the correct wage the unskilled bar work is so low because the employers have loads of people after the jobs in summer so they can pay what they like

It's not a case of accepting the wages, you don't always get the choice! I have management training and experience, food hygiene certificate, off-license certificate and WSET Intermediate Wines and Spirits. Can I get a decent paid job? Can I buggery!
Hubbie has 20 odd years of computer experience, degree in psychology, SRN (nursing), and experience as a Chairman of 2 UK companies. He's working as a plumber on a building site because people here don't want to know what you can do!
In many cases it's not what you know, it's who you know sometimes

dragonfly I do sympathise with your predicament but I stand by what I said previously.

Do you speak the Greek? All the skills qualifications in the world will not help unless you are able to communicate and put into use these skills with cypriot employers.

Many people (and I'm not nessesarily including you in this) Arrive to start a 'new life' on the Island without doing their homework and this includes in many cases using 'who' you know to gain better employment. Does this not also happen in the UK? I've had lots of work through being introduced by a friend or a friend of a friend.

I sincerely hope you find better and more fruitful employment soon
