We did everything by the book when we came over in oct2005 and frankly with hindsight we wish we hadnt bothered! it cost us cy£50.loads of paperwork and a lengthy wait in immigration at paphos and we have only just received them last month!!! Aparantly it is only paphos that insists on them? not nicosia.larnaca.etc!!! We know someone who has started a bussiness here ,husband and 2 kids all working and none of them have registered!! I have been told as eu citizens you should not have to register!

I don't understand your reference to a Green card unless you are thinking of going to America  .

If you are referring to the aliens card and eventually the pink slip ( now yellow ) that you must apply for within the first three months of your stay.

Well I'll tell you what you get .

You get to stay in Cyprus -- You have to understand that you are not in the UK and Cyprus no longer a English colony .

You get to have your deeds issued to you when they are ready-- which you won't get if you haven't a yellow slip-- unless of course you have applied for council of ministers permission which I doubt.

You really have to abide by the rules when you are a foreigner in someones else's country or chance being thrown out with little chance of return .

Eric you say you have sold up in the UK and committed yourself to Cyprus --- well you can't be that committed if your not prepared to follow the rules of the country -- and risk being returned to the UK .

So what if the immigration are still in the dark ages -- it's their country and no matter how frustrating Government offices are you chose to come to Cyprus they didn't ask you to come -- so please accept Cyprus and the Cypriots as they are -- warts and all -- that is if you really want to stay here  .

Hi Eric

We got ours in Paphos last week - It was EASY!!!

They have new offices now, you go first and make an appointment and the lady gives you a list of things you will need to bring.

On the appointment day - take with you your 2 year old son with lots of toys and your 2 month old daughter, try and time it so they both need feeding!

Check In - Get all toys out - start making milk bottles etc...

Wait 5 minutes and the receptionist will rush you in ahead of everyone, turn and say sorry with a smile on your face...

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Postby Cyprus Vending » Wed Feb 21, 2007 7:45 am

Passport photos x 4

Passport + 1 x photocopy

Marrige Cert' + 1 x photocopy

Private Medical Ins' (if you are not working)

If working a MEU1 form stamped by the Labour Office - It's easier to have an accountant to do that (we did)

£25CY Each

----------------------------------------

Once you have the AC, for £6CY you can get a pastic ID card from the goverment building next to the OLD post office in Paphos.

It means you don't need to carry your passport or AC with you!

I hope this helps.
