Crossing the "border"

Postby sneezing7 » Tue Feb 20, 2007 4:30 pm

So whats the deal with this:

Yesterday I went over to the otherside, filled in the normal form & got it stamped. Upon re-entrering the south, the guy at customs didn't stamp my paper, nor give the peice of paper back.

I asked him If I could have it back, and in brilliant english he simply replied "no problem, you go", wafving me away?

Has this happened to anyone else? is this normal?

Unusual but yes, it does happen from time to time.

It is because the immigration guy is "busy" - toilet, eating, chilling out - you name it. They will enter your details in the computer later. And you really didn't need the paper did you? If you wanted it as a souvenir you could have hung around and it would have been stamped and handed back to you when he was ready.

Cool - didn't really want the paper as a souvenir, as it's not in memory of good times really.

Just wanted to make sure that no dodgy business is going on.

Interesting.

We have never done the trip, but we have talked about doing it!

Was it worth it? Did you you stay over night? Would you do it again?

it strictly depends on the mood of the "border guys". both gcs and tcs.
especially through the ledra palace crossing where one usually crosses on foot, they hardly ever check...on the way back south ofcource...
