How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I do care...and the rest of the Cypriots either are TC or GC I guess!!

So as I understood you are able to travel with that kind of passport but not as many times as you want? Is that what you are telling me?

I have complained to the Advertising Standards Authority about one such advert since it implies that it has cut the travel time down to the north by nearly two hours. Complaints can be made online. I am fairly confident that my complaint will be upheld, I have done this successfully before.

You sad sad sad person!

Why would you bother though? You sat there and calculated the times so you could save the holiday makers?

You said "they quote quicker flight times"....and it is a quicker flight to Larnaca. Why would they mention the transfer times when they're advertising quicker flight times? I've seen the adverts you're on about, and they are not misleading because they do get you to Cyprus quicker.

You have issues if you feel the need to complain about something so petty, you should get out more...:!: :!: :!:

Why do u hate the Turkish Cypriots so very much?

They get shafted if they fly into Ercan, “illegal point of entry” bollocks, and when they offer flight through Laranca u go running to tell tales!!

I bet I know what sort of child u were, tell tale tit. Same as u r today:lol:

I don't hate anyone Paaul12, I dislike people who cheat and steal. Both sides have issues with each other but they should be resolved by fair and legal means not by military might or trying to cheat the system. TRNC is an illegal state created by force, don't expect me to turn a blind eye when it tries to gain an advantage by deception. I don't think I was ever a tell tale tit, I just happen to believe I know right from wrong.

Jerry firstly welcome to the forum.

How did we cheat and steal? how can you steal what is already yours? did you have no part in the chain of event s after we had the opportunity to create a united Cyprus for everyone? was it not the GCs who want to change our constitution? (Aktritas) were we not living in Ghettos? were you not the de facto government of the "RoC" just like you are today? did Turkey just one day up sticks and say ho its a nice day lets go take 37% of Cyprus? Have we resolved our outstanding issues?

So please refrain from your sweeping and generalising comments as I will not be so diplomatic next time

Jerry - Can you post the words of the advert, not your interpretation, then we can independently take a view.

Sad, bloody cheek! sad is wasting thousands of man hours painting and illuminating mountainsides with flags. My wife says that people who post on these sites (including myself) are sad - you have more posts than me so what does that make you! Are you a mind reader? How do you know I sat here and calculated flight times? I happen to know that the usual flight time Heathrow/Larnaca is 4.5 hours and from Newcastle, Belfast, Glasgow its more like 5 hours. I used to be in advertising, I have always been against misleading ads, it's bad for consumers and bad for the industry.

Judge for yourself....

An Island Paradise that's closer than ever before..... beautiful North Cyprus
Until now, visiting the paradise island of North Cyprus has always meant over 6 hours of tedious flying time, often with annoying stop-overs on the way. Now for the first time in over 3 decades, North Cyprus has suddenly become much closer.... much much closer!
In fact, in just over 4 hours you can be transported, from the drudgery and stress of UK living to the serenity, tranquillity and charm of this unspoilt corner of the Mediterranean.

Paradise is closer - fly direct from: Gatwick, Luton, Manchester, Stansted, Heathrow, Bristol, Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, Belfast.

I have only left out the description of "North Cyprus"

The advert clearly implies that you can be in north Cyprus in "just over 4 hours". You can't, in "just over 4 hours" you have landed at Larnaca which is not in north Cyprus

VP Thank you for your belated welcome, I've been posting on this site for months and I am quite familiar with your bigoted views. I do not intend to go through the Cyprus problem with you in detail, as I said earlier both sides have issues with each other. Where does the ulimate blame lie, how far do you want to go back? 1983, 1974, 1963, 1960, 1955, 1931, 1878, 1830 - no let's go back to the date where the root cause of the Cyprus problem began - 1570.

Thanks Jerry. Interesting, though I think that it will probably pass since it would be a very naive person who believed that a holiday to Cyprus didn't involve waiting for baggage, transfering to a hotel, whether North or South, checking in etc. And although most tourists come to the Kyrenia area, Famagusta is closer than many resorts in the South that use Larnaca Airport so 'can' would probably cover the advert placers.
