smells from the neighbor

Postby Sotos » Mon Feb 19, 2007 7:33 pm

A new person moved on the 1st floor of my apartment block. There are 2 floors separating us but I can still smell everything she cooks! I can tell that now she is frying onions and that a while ago she was making coffee!! :x I didn't have this issue with any of the other neighbors I don't know why it is like this now!

Are you sure th smells are coming from the apartment above?,if they are, it could be a result of unusual atmospheric pressure which can force warm air downwards in slightly windy conditions.

As a precautionary measure, you should drop a note in your neighbour's post box begging them to lay of the beans till the weather improves, once the climate warms up a little, the problem should abate.

I had the same problem with the neighbour directly below me in my small block .

The previous occupants never opened their kitchen window as they have air con in there -- the new occupants just open the widow .

Another cause of smells drifting up is if the offending flat has had a hob hood fitted over the cooker and as it's a fan extraction it could be blowing the smells directly up to you :x

Eliko -- at a guess I would say that Sotos lives on the third floor if the smelly ones are on the first floor and there are two floors difference.

Sotos ---- at least if you get on ok with them you know when it's the right time to pop in for a coffee :)

I am above them. Every floor has its positives and negatives I guess. I get the smells but I get the better view also :P

Give me fried onions and coffee smells everytime :D

Beats the stink of knock off 'perfume' and stale fag smoke pleasantly interupted by the more than occasional wiff of cannabis floating up from the 'Artistes' in residence their admirers and the video camaraman on the floor below me

Lovely to leave it all behind and piss off up the mountain on a Friday afternoon after liberally dousing my balcony with a potent mix of Detol and strong bleach or paint thinners which I'm told makes some people throw up

I think the only solution that you have is to swop your flats. You move to the fisrt floor and she comes to the third floor. That way you will never smell anything.

But you will miss the nice view that you have now at the third floor!
