"For example, the Cabinet has an exceptional power to grant a person, who has contributed greatly to the Turkish Cypriot community, citizenship. It is, in a way, an honourary citizenship. However, in the past, this exceptional power was generalized by previous administrations. In one case, 1,563 people were granted citizenship in five minutes.
There are 50,000 workers recorded today who are future potential citizens. The people who have lived on this island for centuries, calling it their ‘country’, are soon to become a minority. Today, Turkish Cypriots are a minority in terms of the population on the island and in the future they may become a minority in terms of citizen and voter numbers. Therefore, we should determine the real number of Turkish Cypriots on the island.
Sustainable development needed"
This is interesting stuff, that apparently does not worry anyone in the North.
