We looked to transfer our BUPA (we had been members for years) but the increase in premium for being in Cyprus was huge.

We signed-up with Alpha Bank in the end and have been very pleased so far (although as has been pointed out, pre-existing conditions and ‘chronic’ illness are not covered).

Just as an aside, Mrs. CyprusGrump hurt her foot on Saturday night. We went to the Blue Cross at Pafos first thing Sunday morning and were seen immediately (literally as we stepped through the door we were met with a wheel chair).

Within fifteen minutes she had X-Rays, saw the on-call consultant and got a prescription. We then went to the open Pharmacist just up the road, got the three medicines (total cost CY£6.85) and left for home.

In our experience the level of care in the private sector here is truly outstanding.

Ah - a catch! Maybe I'll have to keep it for him but get new cover for me and my girls.

Still on what we need before we get to Cyprus what form/certificate do we need to get the national health service?
