Pagdatis is in another final! Good luck to him tomorrow! The game will be live from CyBC2 at around 3pm I think.
MARSEILLE, France: Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus remained on course for a second straight title after beating Jarkko Nieminen of Finland 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 on Saturday to reach the Open 13 final.
The seventh-seeded Baghdatis, who won the Zagreb Open on Feb. 4, faces either Robin Soderling of Sweden or Gilles Simon of France, who played later Saturday.
After taking the opening set in 35 minutes, Nieminen looked in control until Baghdatis began to upset his rhythm with a series of drop shots.
Baghdatis broke Nieminen in the fourth game of the second set. The Finn was unhappy with the line call which came at the end of a long rally and gave Baghdatis a break point.
Nieminen broke back in the seventh game when Baghdatis was wide with a forehand, but lost serve again with an unforced error into the net.
Baghdatis won the set with a backhand drop shot which Nieminen could only watch.
With Baghdatis also using his powerful forehand to good effect, Nieminen quickly slipped to 3-0 down in the deciding set — losing seven straight points in the process.
Baghdatis made it 4-1 with a perfect drop which had Nieminen sprinting to the net. He retrieved it only for the Cypriot to whip the ball straight back past him.
In the following game, Nieminen smashed his racket into the ground in frustration. Baghdatis clinched the match on serve when Nieminen hit a long forehand.
