How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Sotos, in terms of your coment I think it was wishful thinking on my part, that there was an opportunity for Unification. Obviously I was wrong. But at least it would make a good debate with my Turkish speaking Cypriot friend and her family in Melbourne.

I don't think unification is wishful thinking. But even if you think it is why do you have to accept partition? What will you gain for accepting what the Turks want?

Humanist,

just like the Gcs had no right take Cyprus and donate it to Greece, the same way the Tcs have no right to take part of Cyprus and donate it to Turkey. We have been punished for trying to steal their rights and we learned our lesson, the TCs are been punished for so many years as well but they don't know how to get out of it.. They know damn well they will not simply get absorbed by Turkey with partition they will lose everything here INCLUDING the properties they got.

I guess to get some closure, that's all. We don't need to accept it either I guess.

The not so humanist side of me, just wants to take a hard line and say ok, all you turkish cypriots with eu passports living in the north, hand them back or move to the south, unless you were living over there prior to 1974. No one from the north can have jobs in the south, keep the embargo for ever in a day and let things be as they are, Cyprus to block Turkey's accession to EU and we get on with life.
