Israeli held over land in north

AN ISRAELI businessman was remanded in custody for six days by the Larnaca court yesterday on suspicion of buying Greek Cypriot property in the north.

Amir Hayam, 59, was stopped and searched when he landed at Larnaca airport on Wednesday morning on a flight from Tel Aviv.

He was arrested the same afternoon after police obtained a warrant based on what they had found in his possession.

Officers told the court yesterday they had found papers that proved Hayam, whom police said was an architect, had bought 8.5 hectares of land in the Kyrenia district.

He was planning to return there on Wednesday, they said.

They also said they had proof from public documents issued in the north that Hayam was listed as having paid $40,000 as a down payment on the land on February 8.

After examining details of the plot in question, police said they had established that the land belonged to a Greek Cypriot.

This is one of the merits having the crooks passing through the legal Airport.
Come on crooks, all of you, pass through Larnaca Airport, we are waiting for you.

Larnaca is certainly gaining a reputation for something.

What are they going to do when the Irish arrive when Ryanair decide to fly in, TRNC properties are advertised all over Irish newspapers.

Not so well mannered as Russians or Israelis, I believe, I once witnessed a Volkswagen Beetle been thrown through a Hamburg bar window after the management had refused to serve a party of our Gaelic cousins.

I don't think they will give a stuff who owns what and they're not to good on paper work either, especially after a well fuelled flight from Dublin so look out GC customs!

Larnaca Airport could become a little more interesting soon. Begorrah!

Apart from a 2-bedroom flat in Famagusta , I have lost no property as a result of the Turkish invasion. However , I did pay for my flat and consider it to still be mine. Having some bloody foreigner purchasing my flat from some one who does not own it is an insult. Foreign purchasers deserve all they get , enough warnings have been issued by their respective governments and yet they still go ahead.

You are correct Miltiades, the people that buy stolen property deserve everything they get. Would they purchase a stolen car? Of course not.

I know someone who is buying in the North from Turtle Bay Properties. I have warned the idiot time and time again and we had a 'barney' one night. He is spening alot of money for something that won't be his. Like everyother greedy person, he just see £ signs flashing and not the risks ahead. People who buy and sell this kind of property deserve to be banged up. They have no thoughts for anyone other than themselves.

Never mind the Israeli they have caught, what about the one's they haven't ?, I do not wish to be a prophet of doom BUT, once the Israeli's show an interest and gain a foot-hold anywhere, you can kiss ALL your aspirations good-bye for you will be dealing with the masters of deception.

Watch your backs boys, ENCROACHMENT is the name of the game, (backed by the US of course !).
