Papadopoulos is attacked because he is not willing to accept that Cyprus should become an undemocratic banana republic that will be a protectorate of Turkey.

Papadopolus as president of the RoC is a concern to anyone who wants an agreed solution to Cyprus (that does not involve GC get everything they want and TC put up with it). Whenever it is pointed out that Cypriots first and foremost have been the architects of their own distaters the constant refrain is 'it was a few extremists / hotheads / nationalist' and not 'normal' cypriots that got us in this mess (along with the ususal it was the USA, Turkey, UN , Greece, UK , French, New Zelanders the aboriginies who caused all the problems). Well Papa is one of this 'few'. He was instrumental in creating the problems and the conditions for the problems in the first place. Not your best choice then if you want to put right these mistakes and not repeat them. He is also totaly unrepentant - I mean how could the president of the RoC in the 21centuary claim that no TC was killed by a GC in the period 63-74? Why make such an outrageous claim? It must have been calculated to create distrust and hatred between TC and GC - as you piont out the man is not stupid. This then is your choice for someone that will lead you (and us) out of this mess?

Actually it wasn't organized to liberate Cyprus from the colonists. It was organized to make Cyprus Greece's colony.

The comments about Papadopoulos were made by Ziartides, long before Papadopoulos became President and long before Anan became General Secretary of the UN. Thus, even you Piratis, can see that they have nothing to do with present day politics but with the past of the man. In the same way you wouldn't have Denktash as the president of a united Cyprus the TC's won't have Papadopoulos as their president. Do you understand this?
