Is the South really the "govt of Cyprus" or G/C st

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Do you consider the South a Greek-Cypriot National State?

Is the South really the "govt of Cyprus" or G/C st

Postby Alasya » Fri Jan 07, 2005 12:38 am

As a T/C, when a G/C tells me that the South is the "free area" and the govt of all Cypriots. I feel how is that possible!

Greek flags fly every where, everybody calls themselves Greek even the President, and all tv, radio and newspapers are in Greek, the national anthem is the Greek national anthem and there tens of thousands of Greek soldiers there, how can you claim to be bilingual let alone be the govt of Cyprus!?!

Even G/Cs question how "Cypriot" the South is. Take this quote taken from The Line, Women Partition and Gender order in Cyprus, by Cynthia Cockburn who interviewed G/C Rita Pantazi. "So we would go to the big rallies, you know, against the occupation, and we would be this little group of people, the only ones with Cypriot flags. There was nobody else then. they called us traitors".

I am interested to see how many T/C regard the South as merely a Greek-Cypriot state?

THIS IS A T/C POLL.

It is obviously a Greek Cypriot State and don't represent whole Cyprus since 1964.

The south is the free area because is the only area of the only legal state that exists on this island - The Republic of Cyprus, that is not under occupation by a foreign country.

So it is free VS occupied. It is perfectly clear.

Well, Cyprus is inhabited mostly by Greeks for 3500 years. Either you like this or not, it doesn't change the facts. It also doesn't give you the right to act in an illegal way. If you don't like Greeks, then move out of Cyprus.

We are not racists, and we have no problem to live along with others. Unfortunately it seems that you choose ethnic cleansing, and forcefully occupy 37% of Cyprus while you are just 18%.

If you didn't make this ethnic cleansing, then the whole Cyprus would be free, and in free RoC a lot of people would speak/write Turkish, a lot of Turkish newspapers would exist etc. So don't blame us because you choose to act in a criminal way to partition Cyprus.

Therefore the free RoC is inhabited now mostly by Greek Cypriots because the Turkish Cypriots choose to support the occupation and live in the occupied areas.

The greediness of some people is without any limits. They want to illegally occupy just for themselves the 37% of the island (while the are just 18%), and at the same time share the remaining of the island.

If of course any TCs had remained on the Island after the Enosis.

check out the countless human rights reports by Amnesty and Helsinki watch on the appalling treatment of the Turkish minority of Western Thrace by Athens.

In Greece they dont even recognize them as Turks, but as "Greek Muslims".

Perhaps 1/10 of them have stayed against all odds. What makes 1/10 of 130.000? 13.000. Yeah, perhaps 13.000 TCs might have stayed in Cyprus against all odds.
