Hi Jayt, welcome to the forum.

Well, Pafos is beautiful, quite, family and relaxing environment...my favourite...but to be honest if you are looking for better job opportunities, better social life, more options and opportunities for your children...then Limassol is your choice!

Personal point of view as a GC!!!!

we have done loads of research on pahos and the one thing that keeps coming up is lack of jobs although excellent schools but because of the jobs we have started to look at limassol and this sems to be the forum to get different people views on both places.

Hi Jay
What skills have you to offer prospective employers?

There are a few fitness clubs in Limassol but i think that your wife would need to be pretty good at Greek to stand any chance of getting a job in one of them.

Hi jayt,

Before burning your bridges and uprooting your family, I suggest you come out alone, rent a small flat, and give yourself a deadline for finding work. If you succeed, all well & good. If you don't, then you will have saved the family a lot of heartache.

As you don't seem to have a specific skill nor speak Greek, I would think you will struggle.

Harsh, but realistic.

thanks for the harsh bits i would rather know the truth , our plan was to just rent a place at first , we will have about £50000 behind us to start us off , i know it will be hard but its something we really want to work at for a better quality of life for us all.

I think this is a very good idea. There is alot more opportunities in Limassol with regards to work. Paphos is more of a tourist area and Limassol is not.

I wouldnt just upsticks and move over, no way. THe suggestion above is a good one, fly over yourself and have a good look around. Its a big step and could go horribly wrong without research etc. If I was moving to another town in UK, I would want to stay there first and check the place out.

Have you ever been to Cyprus before?

Paphos is quite "dead" during winter. Generally its a city to go and relax...without too many people.

But during winter with no tourists, all the graduates who left for Nicosia or Greece or UK...etc to study...the town looks quite empty!!! Thats not too bad but if we are talking about job opportunities...and you have to chose between Paphos and Limassol...go for Limassol. But Simonwjones and mountainman are right. You better come and take a look by your self!!!!
