At last.... a thread about cars! I like cars
First car was my Dad's bag-o-sh!te 1984 1.1 Ford Fiesta
My first real car was my good ol' shed 1985 Renault 11 1.4 Auto, bought it in 1995... I learnt how to be a mechanic with this car because it kept going wrong! LOL! Finally it went to the great scrappy in the sky in about 2001, after it had done an estimated 170,000 miles (I say estimated because the odometer stopped working at 138,880 miles LOL!)
2nd car was Renault 19 16v 1994 model. My first boy racer car ha ha!
This was a gr8 car, but sadly I wrote it off after only 3 months when the bloke in front stopped suddenly from 50mph, and I - unfortunately - didn't
I then got a Rover coupe 2.0L 1995, this was nice as could remove the roof but after about 3 years it became obvious it was like all rovers.... sh!te.
So I bought a brand new Skoda Octavia vRS in 2003. This was a good car, fast car too. But, I had a bit of trouble with and I got hacked off with it. Plus I needed to raise some money, so I traded it in and bought an older car.
So now I have got a Volvo S40 T4 turbo 2000 model. I like this car. I do a lot of work fixing it, but also I modify it (nothing sad... just performance mods).... it goes (and stops!) like the perverbial sh!t off a stick, running about 260bhp at the moment good for about 165mph I would say.... and the best thing is... it looks just like a sh!tty old Volvo! No big sad spoilers or anything like that, just a slightly bigger exhaust pipe gives it away. Nothing I love more than burning off all the subaru impreza turbo boys LOL! he he
Anyway - that's one of the many sides of me. There is a - just a little - bit of boy racer in me I'm afraid, although it is becoming less & less in my old age
Main thing though is that I'm now a pretty good mechanic, and in my "2nd on-line life" I participate a lot in a volvo forum helping other people with volvos. I also help my local volvo dealership as well.... given that I always seem to be buying parts from there to repair the effer, I must help their bank balance quite a bit
