the second time mojority DID vote for bush, man what country do you live in GG ??

miltiades what are you going to say for the innocent people killed by the US forces? the thousands of homes blown into pieces by misguided missiles with innocent civilians in them? are you going to condem them? or is that just the price people have to pay for some forced freedom?

no the majority never voted for bush. he may have gotten more votes than the democratic candidate, but if you add up all the people who voted otehr parties--indepentant--and not republican or democratic, bush did not get the majority.

i was up all morning watching it in disgust...

majorioty or not, almost half of the country is still in favour so that explains a lot!

these figures talk about democratic and republican numbers only. there are other parties, independant parties. if you add thier numbers into the equation, more people voted against bush than for him.

allow me to say, that anyone proposing to go back to dictatorship is daydreaming.
the whole structure of the old system was destroyed , and elites (and concequently the people as well) are divided along ethnic / religious lines.
no group can or has the power to control the other two , as they are all pretty much armed , and there is no reliable or unified army , police force or in any case goverment. how the hell can anyone in iraq build a dictatorship ? !!!
based on what ?
the best army in the world has not managed for 4 years now to bring law and order , who in iraq will be able to do that now ?
how the hell will he do that ?

there is no going back.... at least not in the predictable future

...
i am not even going to bother discussing the ethics of this proposal...

Good points cypezokyli. But think of this possibility: It is not easy for the Americans to go around killing the Iraqis they don't like. But if they put a dictator there then the dictator will do it for them. And a democratic government could take decisions that do not favor the Americans. But a Dictator put there by Americans will do whatever the Americans want. Saddam was their friend before but it seems he stoped taking directions from the US at some point. So all this is just to replace one dictator with a new obitient one!! Like the many others they have in middle east and elsewhere. And then they call themselves the protectors of democracy
