800.000 people live in Cyprus so I guess it is possible ;) The real question is if you can live better or worst in Cyprus. And to answer that question it depends on what you value most in life. What is 99% for sure is that in Cyprus you will earn less money. Only nurses in public hospitals get good money and it is not easy to get in a public hospital if you are not Cypriot and you do not speak Greek.

Yeah go for it, you'll earn less but it'll cost less to live & the climate, lifestyle, scenery would mean that what you get for free is much better than the UK!

Give it a whirl, gotta try anything once in this life, u can only live it once....

.... no-one on their deathbed says "you know, I wish I had done LESS with my life" do they?!

Sorry - bit philosophical but i'm in that sort of mood....

.... anyway I was talking with a very intriguing & interesting person earlier, who has put me in that sort of - rather enjoyable! - mood :)

So yeah - go for it!
As I say, you only live once! (Unless you believe in reincarnation or you are staring in a james bond film called "you only live twice") LOL!

Yes Pete-D, my sentiments exactly, dont think too hard about your decision or you,ll probably put yourselfs off the idea, just think how shit the UK is and how its getting worse by the minute, its never ever going to get any better in 10 years it will probably sink under its own governments greed,so really what have you got to loose? GO FOR IT!!!!

I wonder how many return to the UK because they can't make a living?

It can be extremely difficult, yes your bills are lower. But when you make just enough to scrape through, and can't save for holidays back to the UK to see family, it can be hard.

Really do your research and if possible give yourselves a way to go back if need be.

A lot of people here are on pensions, so don't need to earn a living. This is after all is said and done a holiday island.

I think the main factor in living the dream as it were it to make sure that you always have a roof over your head. I would always worry about paying rent if I were unable to work through unemployment or ill health. At least if your home is paid for you can scrape by on the other things. Good luck and best wishes

At the moment, there is a chronic shortage of nurses. The new Nicosia General Hospital is very understaffed and they are taking on qualified nurses who are not Cypriot/Greek speaking, or so the papers say. I suggest you look here and see what is required for registration. If you contact these people, you will learn from the horse's mouth and not from us.

Its all very well and good saying go for it but you have to pay the bills still dont you. Electricity bills (i have been told) can cost alot especially when using air-con. I liked the post earlier, saying Cyprus is a holiday island. This is very true. Most people that live there are mainly pensioners arent they?
