Does anyone know the cost of shipping a car to cyprus from the uk? and can you ship a car in the same container as your belongings or do they have to be kept seperate?

8) Hi Richard
You can certainly bring a car in a container as the previous post suggests,
And customs formalities are not too bad if handled by a shipping agent.......the biggest hassle is Registration! people on this and other forums have horror stories about trying to get their car registered over there - in a recent poll of 'what do you wish you didnt take to Cyprus' it was overwhelmingly the car.
You dont sat what the car is but road tax is done on engine size so if its a larger vehicle you may pay more tax than you do in the U.K.

The engine size thing will be interesting for me as im going to be shipping out my Mazda RX8.
Its a 1300 CC engine but as its a rotary engine, it produces the power of a 2600 CC engine, i have already had 1 argument with an insurance company who insist that it goes on the insurance docs as a 2600 CC!!!
Gonna really box the cypriot authorities me thinks

The Mazda RX8 is rated at 1300cc here. That is why we have so many of them and so few Nissan 3500s!

Hi there, as long as you've owned the car a minimum of 6 months and its registered in your name it will cost you £360 to reg in Cyprus plus road tax, price depending on (engine size),but you will have to get a shipping agent and negotiate frieght charge for bringing it over from the UK and clearing may be extra at Limassol docks, probably around £67 then it can be put in a bonded warehouse awaiting your collection.
