Education

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby LENA » Sat Feb 10, 2007 10:39 pm

Pyro mou...things had changed since you was a student... :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink:

I agree with Shahmaran that our history (both sides) have nationalistic b*t and we are all fed up with those. Educating children its a serious matter.

Pyro do you know what I really remember from my primary school (dimotiko)? I remember the "den xexnw kai agwnizomai" border (and for those who are not familiar with the Greek language means that "I dont forget and I fight") We even had a subject on that and we had to study about our occupy villages, about the Pentadaktilo...etc. Do you know what I am not going to forget from that subject? The day that a man came to the class with lots of pictures and he was talking about the Turkish attack with all this pictures from people who was dead, children and women crying, all this people who had to stay in tents...etc. Since then I didnt want to hear anything else about history. My worst subject in school was history. I didnt want to hear anything more. Do you know what emotions can create to an 11 years old child? We are raised with this hater.

But I learn that I shouldn't keep that hater in my heart. Thats why I am here posting against all this people who just want to stay with their memories. They dont want to forgive and move on. I still hate that border "den xexnw kai agwnizomai". I promised to my self that I am not going to teach that subject...and if I have to I will not teach about hater and murders. I will teach the history without hater. And I will never say to my children/student to keep fighting.

And you are right Pyros student are more interested in other subject because they are fed up and they want to have the opportunity to go to university.

hey curry boy, i already answered you already.

yes maybe you are right except of the part that to this very day, big momma turkey will not leave 200,000 return home, and apart of changing the democraphics of the island were the tcs are a minority, 200, 000 still can't go home.

what do you say to a kid when he asks why is turkey preventing people from going back to their ancestral lands with the might of guns?

what do you say to a kid in 2007, when his country, cyprus wants to explore her natural resources, and big momma turkey threatens, not only cyprus with war as the last option, where are all these human rights you are talking about on the net?

not everything starts from school when governments seem to endorse and expect to fuel their own agendas with prejudices?

but i know mr ghandinomalakas, its ok son, we forgive and forget momma turkey?

this is what you wanna hear?

look at the video and hopefully it will give you an insight on what blind nationalism is all about.

pete, it really depends where you come from.

in oz, calling someone a wog it really ain't any deal at all.

same can be said for calling the
english=poms
french=frogs
japs=nips
indians=curry munchers.

nothing wrong with all those names and you will hear them often, not only amongst everyone, but on tv

just follow the cricket and hear the commentating as to what they call they refer to the english. i bet you won't hear english players but the poms. many times we also refer to england as pommie land.

to you it might seem racism to the max, but to us its the norm. we learned to laugh at our selves a long time ago. :lol: something you guys lost a long time ago. :lol:

so lets just no go overboard with this one, shall we?

any skip on this forum can verify what i am saying.

just because you are confused as to where you come from, it doesn't mean everyone is. i was born in cyprus and this makes me a cypriot.
but i see the pommie system left you behind when it came to geography. :lol:

I was born in Cyprus and then chased out by murdering thugs that represented a nation that has shown no remorse. That is not confusing anyone but the murderers to see that I am still here and ready to fight on. Then to put isult on injury you guys go ahead and elect "Akritas Tpaps" to offer us refuge. I am sure there is a film in there somewhere.

I agree a film would be very useful in this case. Perhaps it could clearly show who really kicked you out of your country. Was it really an Eoka? Was it really a TMT? Was it really a Tpap? Was it really a Denktash? Was it all of them? Who knows....

And then you elected a TMT Denky and put him there for 40 years expecting a solution...
