Hi everyone. Im new to this site having spent a while looking back at recent topics. I need some advice from those expat experts already settled in Cyprus pls. First thing - is it possible for a British passport to buy property in cyprus and live (i.e. without special visa, or need employment visa etc). 2nd - can someone give me some indication of prices (or where I might find prices) for private education for my child in cyprus?? Im talking pre-school to secondary school (good to plan ahead I rekon!!). and 3rd - how one earth do I find out about job oportunites over there. Obviously Im thinking about relocation to cyprus (currently live in Egypt), been doing internet research but thinking best to get up to date advice from those in the know!! Pls help me.

Hi,

As an EU passport holder you can buy property in Cyprus without a problem. As far as residence/work permits, you will need to fill out a request for a resident/work permit at your local migration office. I am also an EU citizen and it took 8 months for my paperwork to come thru. If any of your immediate family are not EU citizens it will be extremely difficult to get them a work permit, as they have some bizarre arcane rules regarding non EU members working in Cyprus.

Private schools are fairly abundant but will cost you an arm and a leg. Check out the Cyprus Mail for job advertisements and also do a search in google (cyprus jobs) and you will see some employment agencies offering work. Hope this helps. Nick
