Hi Simon,

I read the email as £5000 for all of the site. Although that did seem a bit too cheap. Someone on here has discussed Sky Anytime and apparently when you try to view it in Cyprus it says it is only available in the UK. Hope not as that is what I was going to try and do.

Hi

No mate its £5k per block, I could be wrong, but check your email again. Either way I aint doing it. I got me PS and tele all sorted so that will do me fine.

I phoned Sky re Anytime. The first operator said it worked when she started to explaining how and why etc they had a fire alarm. I phoned back and spoke to someone else who said it cant. Lets wait and see. If you have downloaded the software I cant see how it cant work.

You going to the meeting?

Cheers

Hi,

Not going to the meeting and the in-laws will miss it by a day which is annoying. Would be handy to have been there to see what is said.
Just realised it was you that mentioned anytime.
We have taken a booking from a chap who's friend has an apartment in A Block and he said that he has Sky in there. The owner is a Interlink worker.
I read the email as EUR 5130 per 16 apartments. If this is the case then it wouldn't be too bad if everone was willing to go for it. Will have to wait and see.

I suspect if it could work the village (and most of Cyprus) wouldn’t be awash with vast Sky dishes.

I suspect that like the BBC and other services they might well detect that your IP address is not based in the UK and block content.

I suspect that you’d need a really fast Internet connection to download content here in Cyprus to make the thing worthwhile – you won’t get one in Pissouri – If you are recording content on your PC and brining it over you might just as well bring a suitcase full of DVDs with you to watch.

Possibly |Grump. But how long has Sky Anytime PC been available for?

With the application you can stream video over the internet too and you can only download the one machine. You can't view all the Sky channels only a number of them. Movie, Sports and documentries are all included if you have the package.

What is the difference if I am watching a match from a hotel room in Manchester to watching the same match in my apartment in Cyprus? If I am paying Sky £50 a month then I should be able to watch it. I hope they think the same too. I have downloaded films onto my laptop and can watch them through Sky Anytime PC.....

See where you are coming from but I think it maybe a selling point for the paying customers. Especially those renting in the winter for the dark nights.
I think we would only get it if enough people want it so the cost is relatively cheap.

.

I agree with Grumps

I think you will find Simon that the Sky anytime service will require the user to access via a UK IP address much the same as BBC, ITV and 4 on demand does. :(

As you can't legally receive Sky broadcasts in Cyprus due to their licencing agreement it would make sense for them to restrict internet streaming of their programs too.

Whilst they can't stop you receiving Sky in Cyprus as long as you pay from a UK address and don't tell them where you actuall are they can restrict internet access to UK IP addresses only very easily and will do this to prevent you viewing from somewhere out side of their licencing agreements.

Notice the service is advertised as Sky "anytime" and not "anywhere"

I suppose it can be done via a proxy server though but is cyta's excuse for a internet service good enough
