Will keep you all posted on what is happening when we get out there. I just hope that we are just being a bit too over cautious on the lock situation, especially after us all waiting so long for it to finally be ready.

LOL Lee!

we probably are but these things do go on in Cyprus and I have heard it time and time again from other people so we have to be a little careful.

I don't like the rumours around no BBQ/no security gates. I just hope they are rumours and not true!

Simon,

I can assure you that the is no BBQ. From the horses mouth on Monday from both Tanya and Maria(operations manager). We have been told that its only a prep area and you have to take your own BBQ.

David.

I was charging CY£20 plus the cost of the lock which varied depending on the quality ~ I doubt you will get a local tradesman to charge that though :( .

As far as your existing locks are concerned there is absolutely no need to change the whole lock just the barrel and you will get three new keys with the replacement ~ not a difficult job once you have located a supplier.

Good job we have bought our own portable BBQs that you can re-use.

We were saving these for the beach but seems like we will have to use them closer to home!!

Sod Lassie's CV, just buy a pit bull, dont think laws are the same in Cyprus as the UK regarding dangerous dogs although I may be wrong.

Don't bother about buying dogs, just send out the Mother-in-Law and employ her!!

There was also a small surprise with the water as there is also a yearly water tax of around EUR 300 on top of the meter charges each quarter.

Nothing seems to be as straight forward as it all sounded!!

Was the water tax per apartment or per block?

Quite agree, nothing is as straight forward as we thought, but then again nothing ever is, is it!

I think we will just have to move over sooner, I could be a resident security guard. I am sure Kate won't complain. She thinks I look like a bouncer anyway!

Per residence i'm afraid and there is also a 10-20 EUR set up fee in your first electric bill.

WOW, talk about money for old rope! I know about the electric charge but the water tax is very high that makes water quite expensive and when you dont even use it!
