"Ercakica went on to underline that those efforts of Greek Cypriots to avoid negotiations should be evaluated in the context of the elections in the Greek Cypriot administration set for next year, and added, "The international community should bear in mind the steps of the Greek Cypriots and take measures which would bring the Greek Cypriots to accept negotiations."

Saying that Turkish Cypriots are ready to start comprehensive negotiations under UN auspices, Ercakica said that TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek administration leader Tassos Papadopoulos should come together and overcome their the disputes as soon as possible".

Has Mr Talat and his administration sat down to re-model the AP and present it to the RoC, for negotiations to begin? The trnc is very clear of what the Greek Speaking Cypriots are asking for;

1/ Turkish Troops out of Cyprus
2/ Refugee right of return and claim of property
3/ Bizonal / Bicommunal United Cyprus governed by Central Federal Government
4/ Settlers issue

Or is it Turkey's pending elections that are halting the process.

I don't know what is going on humanist.
I believe the United Nations are not doing their job right here.

They agreed they would set up those committees and start talking. Papadopoulos says those committees have not started because Talat does not accept to have the matter of properties among the issues, Talat says other things.

Unless the UN inform the people for what is going on, we will ALL continue be taken for a ride

I don't understand this secrecy for matters that concern the future life of every Cypriot here.
In my opinion everything the do and talk through the UN should be made available to the public.

Pyrpolizer, I never believed that the UN is actually worth anything really, look where it sits to start off with. Secondly I am beginning to believe that not even Greek Cypriots want Unification because of the lack of pressure on the governmnet to come up with committees and to pester the UN into hopefully doing something.

Finally every discussion on Cyprus ought to be made available online and in voice recorded form or relayed as part of the news each day. Transparency will give people knowledge and therefore challenge the system, however for those rulling the system is a threat.

I am of the view that until the fat lady USA) sings the Cyprus issue is not to be solved. However, the ioil may allow for some shift.

If Papadopoulos was keen on solving the issue I think he would have rang the TV stations to film his arrival at Gambari's office, with his committees, and asking where the TC's comittees are. That would be action from a president that I would admire. This power games they are both playing is right down childish, egotistical and uncaring for their people. The TC's voted yes for unification right, that means they are wanting that, but Talat just does not take that into account when representing them, the Greek Cypriots voted no on some issues but Papadopoulos is not being pro active enough to say hey lets get this show on the road so that we can all live together and build our nation on fairness equality and equity for all.

the fac t that tpap is not the right man for the job i thnk we'll all agreed there. He is not saying anything different however in his desired solution than what clerides was saying. If its fair i believe he will sign. If its that shambolic annan plan then there's no point even discussing it.
