How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

VP, you may be personally surviving but observing the psosts on this forum most Turkish Speaking Cyp's are not surviving and the fact that some 9,000 of them cross the border for work everyday is alos another indication that they are not surviving. So don't thank me but may be put your needs aside for a moment and think of your fellow people.

You are correct these people are the product of our governments inadequacy in creating gainful employment but of course they to are constrained to a certain degree by the isolation policies unfairly imposed on the TRNC by none other than the "RoC". The fact that our economy can only support and attract cheap migrants workers from Turkey and people can earn a higher wage doing the same job in the south due to the benefits of recognition and a stronger economy these people are put in a difficult position and are left at the mercy of GC employers.

Get real man!! The isolation was not imposed on you by RoC, it was created by Turkey's invation!! You wouldn't be talking about isolation if Turkish troops were not on the island!
Here you have an independed country being invated by Turkey which occupies 37% of its territoty. For humanitarian reasons the RoC agrees to give TC direct access to the out world through its ports and airports. TC people are invited to use the legal ports for exports even for goods that are produced on stolen properties. The RoC goes a step further suggesting that we open co-manage the port of Famagusta and in return to allow the GCs to go back to Varoshia which is a ghost city that no one uses and is rotting for no apparent reason. Talat and Turkey still refuses and follow thair own agenda that is to open trnc illegal ports and airports just to get some kind of international recognition. We saw it happening in Taiwan do you believe that there is any GC that will agree on this?

How right you are askimwos. We wouldn't be talking about anything for that matter. We'd all be 6 foot under pushing up daisies.

You made your point...
Now why do you need the 40,000 turkish troops on the island...don't tell me to protect you from the bloodthirsty GCs. What about demilitarising the island first and letting an even bigger number of UN troops in while we try to sort the problem? Do you think that GCs will attack you once the turkish troops leave the island?

I really find it offensive when Turkish Cypriots claim unfair isolation, what you guys don't realise you are too are being unfair to people whose land you occupy illegally and you are only isolated by choice, move to the south and you wont be isolated and you may even become richer. Sorry just tellin it how it is at present.

askimwos, no we don't expect an attack from the GC's. The troops are there as bargaining tool and nothing more. As the saying goes for every action there is a reaction.
