A day off school and work for a couple of cm of snow? What kind of place is that? I lived in Switzerland for 35 years and we frequently had snowfalls of 10-20 cm, but we just went to work/school/got on with our lives the same as if it was a bright summer's day. In all that time, there was only one occasion when we were paralysed, with about 120 cm overnight (yes, chest height). It happened to be a Sunday, but we were at work at 0800 the following morning because the roads had been cleared by then. It is economically unrealistic for life not to go on normally just because a little snow falls.

I agree completely but the UK just isn't set up for it and there were warnings of the worst weather in 10 years.

A couple of years ago friends were stuck for 16 hours on M11 because of 2 cm of snow! Why should I risk it?

Anyway - I posted the pics as I thought they were seeing things from a positive side.

Lots of snow on Troodos now too but at least after a 30 minute drive (10 if you're Cypriot) you could be on a relatively warm beach :) :) :)

Yes it is all over the news here in UK about the snow and travel chaos even in central london where the weather is always warmer than everywhere else.

This country sucks, the way it grinds to a halt because of a little bit of weather. I have been to Sweden and Finland in the middle of winter, and everything goes on as normal there, planes take off without delays, roads are usable... just wait for the government enquiry about how the country has failed to cope!

Not this year "Devil". It snowed only once this year so far, around Zürich, and that wasn't very much to write home about either. We are off to ZERMAT for the weekend to visit the "Matterhorn", so perhaps we will get some snow up there.

Haven't had a chance to use my new Schlitten yet. That really sucks.

I love the snow but I much rather have the semi tropical weather of Sydney anyday, sunny even in the middle of our coldest winter day of 16C. lol
