Plasma LCD televisions.....

Postby GG » Tue Feb 06, 2007 5:09 pm

Where is cheaper to buy these sort of things, UK or CY?

I am sending a container to Cyprus with a car, I want to know whether its worth me filling the container up with TV's etc for my property in Cyprus. I always thought that I'd find stuff cheaper over in Cyprus but everyone coming from Cyprus is telling me that this sort of stuff is cheaper over here.

Any advice???

Any website where I can check prices in Cyprus? Like a cypriot equivalent of Dixons etc?

Much cheaper in UK...

You will find them At least the same in UK£ as CYP£ and sometimes a bit cheaper as well...

PS. It is also cheaper to send the car roll on roll off....

OK, so I'll load up with stuff then, I get decent 32 inch LCD's for GBP£400 and Philips and Sony's for only £100 more!!! Big brand name DVD players for GBP£40 etc. I would be surprised if CYP can beat those prices.

I fancied driving it all the way but changed my mind, container price is only slightly more and safer plus I get to send over any stuff I need, I gotta furnish 2 places over there.

Saw some DVD players for £19 yesterday (sale price). I paid £35 for a Philips 18 months ago. 32" LCDs are from £250-450.

Eh?

The argos price is £'s yet you pay the same amount in cyp£'s so at least 15% more straight off...

If you want something that you will save money on as well, look at digital camera's

ie.. Canon powershot G7 UK price, gbp£318, cyprus price cyp£358!

I just bought a 42" Samsung Plasma from Electroline in Paralimni. They seem about the cheapest in the area for named brands. I am not bringing a container so to buy here was Hobson's choice for me. Bear in mind that TV's you buy in England will have a long trip out here in a container with lots of other mixed stuff so you have the potential for damage, and its bye bye to the warranty unless you want to take it back to England again.

Have recently been to a friends house and taken some photographs for their insurance company of their brand new TV damaged in shipping it out here. No chance of a repair here so they will have to live with it.

You can find last year's models being sold off for that in many places. Just look around.
