TRNC----- the Home of Who exactly???

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

TRNC----- the Home of Who exactly???

Postby BirKibrisli » Mon Feb 05, 2007 6:42 am

There was one glaring exemption in the announced census figures for the TRNC...It did not tell us exactly how many of the 256,644 people who called TRNC home last April were people with RoC passports.

The figure of 42,795 which was the number of TRNC citizens with at least one other foreign passport did not include the real Turkish Cypriots who had Cyprus passports. These people were buried in the 133,937 figure which were the numbers of TRNC citizens without other nationalities.
If they told us that,it would have given us a good indication of the number of real TCs left in Cyprus. The ommission was not accidental of course.
It was designed to hide the fact that TCs are now a minority even in the TRNC... :(

In other words, the majority of those who call TRNC home are people with roots and alliegences elsewhere. These people consider the GCs as the enemy, and the RoC as a foreign country. What can we expect from this population? To demand the withdrawal of the Turkish troops? To demand at least the end of military rule in the TRNC? To demand reunification?

Perhaps now our GC compatiots can realise the dire straights the real TCs are in? Perhaps now the RoC government can institute policies and measures to win over the real TC population, because they are in no state to help themselves any longer.

Birkibrisly , you are correct without a shadow of a doubt the RoC has to implement vigorous policies in order to win over the Real T/Cs , I said before that just because the Turkish language still appears on official bank notes and documents is not enough. Start by creating a new Government post and appointing a T/C as the head of a department whose task will be to encourage and to bring together our two communities into one .

When they do and some real progress has ben made then and only then will I even think about changing my mind. I think Bir is playing with the numbers a bit but I am sure VP will put him right on that as someone that is actually living there.

The informaiton he is searching for has not been released yet, they say it will over the next few weeks.

I do agree with general gist of his post thought that the GC should be really concerned about these figures more than anyone else because will they want to unite with Turks in 20/30/50 years time? How ironic that would be the GCs pushing for a 2 state solution.

It seems there is only one people that has a real purpose in all of this VP and the RoC is not it. They are just playing the odds and expecting to get what ever it is they can get. They complain about the casinos but gamble on our lives.........Brilliant
