Well lets start by asking what he is asking of us.

Give up on Turkey and return the whole of the island to his control.

What has he done to help us make that move…………nothing.

Zan , you are a Cypriot and you are wanted in Cyprus , those who do not want T/Cs are a tiny minority , all of us own Cyprus , as for TPap , he was elected Zan in a democratic election .

Which means that you like his policies against the TCs. We do not and will not. Some of you here have highlighted the changes needed to make the move comfortable but refuse even your own findings and go on about democracy. I hate to use the example but I will, Hitler was elected democratically. Democracy is not always right and to stand by it through thick and thin is a fools paradise. If you want to live by those rules then you have your own country in the south to do so. I personally am trying to improve on those principles in my own country but am being hampered from without and within. Again I state that you guys are running on empty and see only a united Cyprus and sod the consequences. I prefer to act more responsibly.

You are supposed to be a business man……If you want to attract customers you provide them with what they want not go out into the street with a stick and usher them in by force.

Zan , democracy is not perfect by any means but at least it has a sell by date on all products . It also means that the people are governed by people elected by the people. The alternative does not bear thinking.
What makes you make such a sweeping statement " you guys are running on empty and see only a united Cyprus and sod the consequences. I prefer to act more responsibly. """
Are we irresponsible by wanting our island united and our people as one , are we irresponsible by wanting our identity to be the Cypriot one above all else , is Bir and Kikapu irresponsible adults in their 50s and yet acting irresponsibly??
Give us a break Zan , I think VP has infected you too.

By GCs not TCs he represents what Denktas represents to you. His is an ex eoka man who has not taken 1 step towards uniting the island. I recall something he said about I cannot take on a republic and had over a state, so he he no intention of even talking about BBF, cant you see this?

@Kikapu and Pitsilos

By birth: If at least one of the parents is already a citizen
By registration: He or she is married to a citizen and they lived together for at least 2 years.
By naturalisation: Continuous living for minimum 7 years plus a lot of preconditions. One of the preconditions is the person should have previously got permit to stay for so long. (e.g a political asylum seeker)

Naturalised citizenships are given only by the Council of Ministers and believe me they are not that easy.
The council of Ministers can also deprive citizenship from persons who got it by registration if after they got it live more than 7 years abroad.

NB. In the past citizenships by registration were given ONLY if the husband was cypriot. We had a lot of women who married mainland Greeks in the past and their husbands were not getting citizenship. Were allowed to stay though and after 7 years were allowed to get cotizenship by naturalisation.

Quiz: Why the Sri-Lankans and other Asians are allowed to make a maximum of 3 two year work contracts in Cyprus?

I forgot to say who is defined as "Cypriot".
The 1960 constitution deals with that, and in general it says people "by reason or connection" to Cyprus automtically become RoC citizens, and their Colonial or British citizenship is lost automatically. There are some conditions though for persons who would have dual citizenship, and some more conditions as how those with dual c/ship could denounce one of the 2 citizenships.

So Pitsilos, If your parents left Cyprus before 1960, and you were born abroad, your case becomes complicated...
