while we talk about oil

Postby cypezokyli » Sat Feb 03, 2007 3:30 pm

the press is (surprisingly) doing its job!
its the first topic in most newspaper i ve seen today : british, american , german, even greek , turkish and cypriot ones !!!

i never considered myself as "green" , but those 500 people who know more than me, met in paris and said that the problem is serious.

do you think that sth will be done this time or will it be forgotten in week ?
perhaps....so long there are disasters caused by the weather , it will be difficult to forget...

will our leaders do sth ?

....
who knows ? at the end it is going to be a tsunami that might solve the cyppro... :?

Its a pity the largest polluters of the planet STILL refuse to follow the Kyoto protocol, but the Bush is an oil man and had around 50 MILLION dollars towards his election campaign given by the US oil and Gas industries.

Quote: President Bush on the Kyoto Protocol said that "This is the American position because its right for America" and, just to make the point clear, he added:

"We will not do anything that harms our economy, because first things first are the people who live in America"
Why do people hate America? by Sarder & Davies p81

3 cheers for Good 'ol Uncle Sam

Every American travelling abroad should pay a "GREEN" tax on Arrival... EU should consider it.

raymanuva, lets tax the TC's that don't want peace. How does that sound instead of taxing Americans. Stop pushing blame.

so America doesnt give 2 shits about anyone else but herself, whats new?

i say they need a few more Katrinas before they can get a grip on reality and see that there are far more serious and immediate issues to be dealt with other than bombing 3rd world countries full of muslims.

I agree Shahmaran, but conflict abroad seems their way of deflecting too much scrutiny within their own country. I think embargos and sanctions should be in place. No more buying from them until their factories etc conform to the Kyoto protocol.

I could agree more Shahmaran...its not enough for them that they kill people with their bombs but they want to lead all of us to death. And dont worry if they dont ratified the Kyoto protocol we all going to die from Katrinas.
With the Kyoto protocol they want to achieve the stabilization of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system. Do you think that any catastrophic phenomenon will select just America?
