askimwos, I would certainly vote for that. However, what I have come to learn on this forum is that turksih cypriots are not willing to say no to turkey and reap the benefits of participation in a cypriot society and secondly they want to share the economic benefits that cyprus has to offer with not doing the right thing by greek cypriots.

there can be a solution tomorrow if they wished, but the real question are they allowed by mother turkey? are the turksih speaking cypriots ready to say we are cypriot we have an opprtunity to be economically better off, to save our culture, customs traditions and identity or do we want to continue to praise turkey for our isolation. the reality of cyprus is that there are more greek speaking cypriots and that will not change, the struggle for this nation is not about numbers but about finding and creating policies and social planning that makes cyprus a fair state for all to live regardless of their religious or linguistic backgrounds.

What you have not realised is TCs will say no to Turkey when they feel and see that a united Cyprus is will provide a better future for them and that they will have equal representation and their own area. These elements were in the Annan plan and why we voted YES, that proves that we will consider unificaiton on those grounds. So really you have not understood us very well, if the criteria is right we will tell Turkey to go. But you have not agreed or provided and road map or criteria as it was your sied that rejected the only road map put before us.

However the turkish speaking cypriots separate themeselves and create this notion of them and us with venomous beliefs about greek speaking cypriots that ave no validity in cyprus today. if only they stop and look for a moment that the numbers of them coming to wotrk evrryday are increasing and that none of them have been harmed by greek speaking cypriots they will then realise that we are the same and that the AP could be used as the basis to re-build our country and when i use the term our I include turkish speaking cypriots, when most of the turkish speaking cyp's get on this forum the only talk about separation and them and use attitude.

Look Tcs are not stupid and will only move in your direction if your leaders take steps to include and relax isolation, imo both sides are stubborn and do not want to take the first step, this imo shoudl be the recognized more wealthier GCs one step forward and you will see the 5 steps the TCs take, this is how we are...take that step and you will see what happens but your leaders woudl not dare as they are more concerned about staying in power and extracting their demands via the EU.

askimwos
viewpoint it seems that you have an answer to whatever argument is put in front of you, but let me say that all these remind me of the official line of the TC administration, are you by any chance a member of this?

No I am not.

You asked whether I know any TCs who are not cheap labourers, the answer is yes, quite a few actually, I know people that run small businesses alongside GCs, I know people that work in semigovernmental organisations, I know people that work in the university and colleges, I know people that work in municipalities, I also know people that trade goods from north to south and vice-versa.
What you said about cheap labour is not the case. The majority maybe in the building industry but again the wages for TCs are much higher than those of polish or sri lankans and are pretty much at the same level as those of the GCs doing equivalent jobs.

They must be very thin on the ground as I have not met any and those construction workers I have met complain of being treated as second class citizens.

You say that you cannot tell Turkey to let go unless you are economically independent, that may be true but the biggest changes happen when the people and not the politicians take action.

So this is great you suggest we take to the streets and tell the Turks to leave without securing a settlement? cant really see this happening do you? as it would us in an economic turmoil and at the mercy of of the GCs who would want to themselves in danger and without a road map or any safeguards?

Don't forget that the majority of GCs opposed the coup in 1974 and that the policy of distancing the RoC from Greece was one dictated on the politicians by the people in the years that followed 1974.

Pity this was not their policy in 1960-1963, a matter of too little too late.

You say that the TCs voted yes to the annan plan and that proves that they want a federal solution and that the GCs don't want this - well let me say that the annan plan was mostly about securing Turkey's interests first and then those of the TCs. You know this better than I do. Bring a new plan that excludes the points regarding guarantor powers, troops staying on ithe sland, and Turkey having a say in all things that matter on foreing policy then be sure that the GCs will voted yes.

Surely it should be the GC administration that should be working like crazy to bring about a new plan as it was them that rejected the Internationally backed UN brokered plan not us. This I have seen no sign of and indicates they are not interested in a solution on the basis of the annan plan and will continue to persue their agenda via the EU.

Cheap labour are the Sri-Lankas.

Do you know any TC laborers? Go ask them.

Yes I do know TCs who work in the free areas. One of them is a mechanic at Mitsubishi. I put their salaries many times in this forum and I PROVED they are the same as the GCs.

How many do you know? Tell me what salaries they get?
How many Sri-Lankas do you know? Tell me what salary A Sri-Lanka gets.

Fyi the average salary a TC gets in the free areas is more than what a TC teacher with 30 years experience gets. You put down figures and then talk.

Village People,

You and which TC army is going to tell Turkey to pack up her "tanks" and go home, even if you wanted. Oh, what a laugh. You have allowed yourself to be assimilated, yes, that terrible word you always use against others, to be assimilated by Turks from Turkey. So, if anyone is going to tell anyone to pack their bags and move, it's going to be the majority in the "TRNC", which happens to be the Turks, telling the minority, the TC's, to move to the RoC, to be with their Greek Cypriot brothers, because they are not going anywhere, unless Turkey decides to leave for other reasons, that best serves her. Please do not insult our intelligence, that you have any say so, even in your own "make believe Country, the TRNC", that you can tell Turkey what to do.

Oh shit, I can't stop laughing, help.

Although it actually makes me sad Kikapu is right VP. The TCs cannot tell Turkey to leave. Even if tomorrow everything is agreed between the GCs and TCs Turkey will not approve and will refuse to leave. She will find a thousand excuses for that.

Even more sad is that the Anan Plan (after the GC NO) did not have the chance to go all the way through to see if Turkey would realy accept it and withdraw.
You know very well that Turkey reserved the right (in case both sides had said yes) to pass it through her general assembly and through her Generals for approval. I have no doubt the Generals would put down objections and let it pass conditionally. (Something similar to what Turkey did with her unilatteral declaration at EU).

Cyprus is the ONLY card the Military Deep State of Turkey has to show to the nationalists to prove its "braveness"and it's necessity. There is NOTHING ELSE.

The Military deep State of Turkey will collapse only when it suffers a defeat of greater value than CYPRUS. How is that going to happen, I don't know. Otherwise Turkey will remain a Junta State, true Democracy will never surface, and the TCs will be held hostage.
