You need 2 programs, both can be downloaded from the net.
The first one is called DVD Decrypter. This will remove the encryption of your commercial DVD and you can then transfer the data to a file of the same name that you have created on your Hard Drive.
However, when you check the properties of this data you will find its around 6 to 7 gig, far too large to fit onto a standard 4.7 backup DVD blank.
You now have to use DVD2ONE, this llittle program compresses the data from the commercial DVD from the file you have created on your Hard Drive to another file you have created in your Documents Folder with the same name, perhaps in upper case letters so you know which one is which, to under 4.7 gig.
You will now be able to burn a playable backup of your original DVD in case the first one is damaged or lost. There is a knack to this so take advice.
When creating the destination folder in a program like Nero, you have to create 2 destination files for your data: -
AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS but you only transfer your data into the Video file, leave the audio file empty.
Using this process for anything other than creating backups for one's personal use is illegal and the penalties for software theft and counterfeiting are severe!
Don't be tempted to do this, in the UK, the Federation against Software Theft come down hard on anyone caught distributing home made DVD bootleg copies.
