BAKERS

Postby Sunshine01 » Mon Jan 29, 2007 9:29 pm

Does anyone know if there are any baker's shops in Protaras, Pernera and Kapparis or can you buy fresh crusty bread in the supermarkets?
Thank you. :)

There is a Zorpas bakery in Ayia Napa I am not sure if they have one in Protaras. But usually the big supermarkets bake their own bread and the smaller ones bring fresh bread every day.

There are three big supermarkets in Paralimni - Orphanides, Kokkinos and Carrefour. The other places have several smaller supermarkets. They all have fresh bread. There are also bakeries which are open 24 hours a day which also sell milk, butter etc.

But I've not found anywhere which sells the crusty French bread we're used to in the UK. And the sliced loaves go stale quickly.

You're in Cyprus to try the various local breads. If you still need French Bread as in UK perhaps you should have stayed in England?
Right now I'd love one of the circular village breads - especially if it has just come from the old bread ovens.

Papantonious in pafos sells same bread like in UK (or did a few weeks ago!), in fact is probably nicer, and yes it goes stale quick but so does all proper bread. Which is just an excuse to go back and buy some more!
