Apartment advice

Postby Hazza » Fri Jan 26, 2007 6:16 pm

I recently bought a new apartment. Now I have 2 problems but the developer is refusing to do anything to help.

1) The water is absolutely freezing. If I need any hot water, I have to put the switch on. I asked a couple of other residents about this and theirs is fine. I'm not expecting boiling hot water, but with the sunshine we've had over the last couple of days, I am expecting a little something, not ice cold water that I am getting.

2) Parking spaces. The spaces that are there are impossible to park in. If a car is parked, there is no way in hell you can get another car next to it, purely because there is no space. I spoke with all the residents and everyone has the same issue. All we asked for is an extra meter from his land which is either side of the apartment block to give us more movabilty to be able to at least go in and out. I asked the son about this and his reply was "its only an apartment block. Everyone should just get small cars" I don't have a huge car, just a Mitsubishi Lancer and an Opel Corsa. I can't even get the Corsa in there :(

Is there anything I can legally do about this? Or shall I just proceed to plan B which is a huge banner on my Veranda with the developers name on it (he's building another small block behind with the same design as well as 2 houses directly opposite).

Number 1 : Maybe your heating system is defective / or needs some testing. You may need to ask a technician - the one who installed that particular system to come and check. If it is defective then he must come and fix it. If he doesnt then proceed with legal advice.

Number 2 : As many residents have this parking issue this need to be decided by all of them . Doesnt the building has a commitee for managing general issues . There must be one as all buildings have one. Ask them and tell them how can this issue be solved as it is a matter of all the residents and not just yourself.

Hazza it seems that your apartment is not connected correctly to the solar panels. With the sunshine we have now you should have enough hot water for a shower or two without using the boiler.

Its a brand new block. Only 2 of the flats out of the 8 are in use. As soon as the others move in, then we will have a meeting.

I should be moving in tomorrow so will be able to test the solar panels and hot water properly.
