A New Peace Initiative from the TRNC!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

A New Peace Initiative from the TRNC!

Postby BirKibrisli » Fri Jan 26, 2007 2:00 am

Rumours are circulating on the internet that a new organisation has been formed to push for two giant flags (One Turkish and one TRNC) at the summit of Besparmak Mountains...
Named "Flag at The Summit Association",the newly formed "peace initiative" aims to place two 36 metre posts on top of the Besparmak Mountains to support the Turkish and TRNC flags which will measure up to 96 square metres each. The flags will be designed to rotate 360 degrees and will be lit at night by sunlamps!..The cost will reportedly be 80,000 AUD...and will be raised by public donations...Any GCs who want to contribute to this essential step in the peace process would be most welcome,I am sure (Birkibrisli's comment)...

If each flag is 96 square meters and were square shaped, each side would be the square root of 96 meters which is 9.8 meters.
Bit small aren't they? 80,000 AUD? I think the flag manufacturers are ripping you off.

I am not organising this whole shebang, bill.
But I believe the cost will include the construction and the erection of the
flags in what must be a very inaccesible terrain. But since Zan thinks they are planning to move Cyprus closer to Turkey, that sum doesn't seem excessive...

Bir, they can put a 36 metre statue of Ecevit holding a 10 metre flag of turkey sitting on a 50 metre fully illuminated throne with little fireworks coming out of his moustache every night........ It won't change one iota of what we think. That mountain range is just gonna get more pathetic wth all this war memorabllia messing up the landscape.
