If you have a 16 acre square paddock (plot of land), what would be the length of each side?

any help would be appreciated

Someone please, please check my maths on this.

1 English acre = 4000m2
or
2.5 English acres = 1 hectare = 10,000 m2

therefore you have a total area of
16 English acres = 6.4 hectares = 64,000m2

So if it's a a square field
Square root of 64,000 = 253meters

Everything should use the metric system. It makes things so much easier!

The conversion multiplier to m² is 4046.8564. 16 acres is therefore 64,749.7 m², so the edge of a square containing that will be 254.46 m or, if you prefer using prehistoric units, 834 feet 10.1 inches.

As far as I'm aware Aussie acres are identical.

A 16 acre square is 4 acres by 4 acres.

One acre is 4840 sq. yards.

One square acre is approximately 69.56 yards by 69.56 yards.

So, the length of a side is 69.56 x 4 = 278.24 yards.

You got (roughly) the right answer, but I don't know how, because there ain't no sich animal as a square acre, unless you go into the fourth dimension :D
