Moving to Cyprus..

Postby mike-d » Thu Jan 25, 2007 4:03 pm

Hello All,

I will be moving out to Cyprus shortly and would appreciate some help with the following questions..

I apologise in advance if these questions have been answered before but I am new to this forum! Thanks.

** Do UK televisions work in Cyprus, or are they incompatible?

** Do UK telephones work in Cyprus? I seem to remember hearing something they they need modifying..

** What size satellite dish would I need to be able to watch UK Sky from my house in Limassol?

** With the correct size dish would I be able to pick up ITV on channel 103 or would I still need to find it in other channels?

Many thanks in advance for any advice that you can give me!

PS. I am sure there will be more questions in the coming weeks & months!

Thanks,
Mike.

Hi Mike

Welcome to the forum & to Cyprus when you get here...

Yes your TV will work here, as will your phones.

For Limassol I beleave you will need at least a 3m dish!

Your Sky card may not pick-up your regional news etc but you can click on 'find' other channels & you maybe lucky...

I hope this helps.

So, it's just a case of changing the plugs then, as the voltage is the same? That's just common sense, surely?

Re. the Sky thing. Don't you have to still have an address in the UK for subscription? How do we get round that one if we sever all ties with the UK?

Mike, you don't need to change the plugs. Cyprus is the same as the UK - inc' the phone sockets...

But humanist, Mike is trying to learn, he is asking questions on this Forum; it is really important that people do as much research as possible if they are moving to a foreign land.
