I am hoping one day to settle in Cyprus.....am owned by 3 cats (1 of them ferrel) and hope to bring them out with me. When I do eventually get there, I will (hopefully) be retired. I really want a dog in my life and after reading previous posts, realise that I should wait and get one when I arrive.......am concerned about a previous post regarding poisoning of cats! Is this common?

There are plenty of wonderful dogs here that are desperate for loving homes so you will have no problem finding the right dog for you when you arrive in Cyprus. Please keep my details and contact me, even if i it is a few years from now as I know lots of people that are always rescuing dogs and need to find good homes for them. (www.cypruscatrescue.co.uk - our email address is on th site)

Unfortunately yes cats and dogs get poisoned every day here in Cyprus because locals can just go and buy it off the shelf. There has been petitions for years to stop this happening. When walking dogs you must always keep them on the lead and make sure they don't pick anything up off the street to eat - I seem to hear that beaches are on of the worse places for poisoning. Many cats get poisoned around restaurants and hotels and apartment blocks. You have to choose wisely on where you will live when you come here. Make sure it is an animals friendly neighbourhood.

stacielou16 if you are interested we can bring him to Larnaca. Can you just tell us a little bit about yourself like do you have any other pets? Do you live in a house or flat? Near busy roads? Had cats before? Please let us know.

hello junemichael i have a dog i did have a cat but she got poisoned last November by our neighbour he also poisoned our dog but the vet came just in time for her. sadly it was too late for my cat and also 3 other kittens that i fed. We called the police and the man is in alot of trouble so i dont think he would do it again but there is still a chance that he could as he must be a very sick man. i dont think that getting another cat is a good idea at the moment but we are hoping to move from this man very soon. sorry for wasting your time. xx
