I dont think they get much smaller, except maybe for Kato Dri.

I love these places.

My Uncle's family come from Kato drys, very beautiful village...but I think I can come up with even smaller villages. If you pass through Kato Drys and keep going up, and up, and up (Quite high..)...you'll get to my Mothers Village, Odhou which is smaller than kato Drys and my grandfather originally comes from a village called Ora which is even smaller than Odhou...

Really???? But Kato Dris is only about 20 people, what the population of Odhou and Ora. I dont think these small villages will survive, gardually as the oldies are dying off and the youngsters are moving into big towns for uni and work I reckon they disappear. Its only the tourist dollar that keeps them going. My uncle (Mayor of Skarinou) reckons that in the summer the tourists living in Skarinou outnumber the natives.

So get your facts straight. There are more GC missing and more GCs buried in mass graves than TCs. Unfortunately you seem to know only the part of the story they taught you.

Firstly, regarding the casualties, no one knows who killed every single one, nor how they all died.

It is certain that some GCs were killed by coupists.

Some were probably killed by accident. In a war zone all sides have a tendency to shoot first and ask questions later so to save their own lives. GC soldiers may well have shot some GCs by accidents, and Turkish soldiers may have shot TCs by accident too.

But about 70% of 'the missing' GCs are young men, some I believe Greek not GC, who were soldiers or armed to fight. The death of soldiers is what happens in wars, sadly. If we knew the whole truth you would probably find that some in both sides were killed, accidentally, by their own side. This is what has happened in every recent war.

So the actual number of 'innocent' GCs who could have been brutally murdered by 'barbarian Turks' is actually quite small. That there were some is probably true, and one is too many, but they were exceptions.

What is certain is that nowhere was there an organised rounding up of civilians by Turks/TCs and their murder, as done by GCs to TCs at Tokhni, Mari, Zyyi, Matatha, Sandallar and elsewhere. Had there been, the world would never have heard the end of it.

You may not know that the survivors of Tokhni, mostly women and children, were resettled in a village in the North which is now called Tashkent. I'm sorry, I don't know its former name, but if you look over at the big flag on the mountain, it's the village down from the right corner of the flag. I don't like the flag there, but the you can see why the people who live in the village don't mind it.

[Gavcar wrote]This is very sensitive situation and its better you close this case if you want to leave in peace with TCs because every cypriot knows what happend but we trying to forget[/quote]

I support that, Gav. Enough is enough we got to let some historical events just go. Individual families if they have not had counselling ought have had and need to have to have some closure , but I believe we need to let it go. As the openning of Ledra Street has come about we need to concentrate on the positives and bringing our community back together.

Ivowed that I would not come back on the forum a few days ago but I could not resist, as the wall came down and thank you to those who forwarded youtube link. Thanks and may God Bless us all to a peaceful solution.
