Though I do not believe in a personal God,the death of the notable Turkish Armenian journalist Hrant Dink has moved me to seek solace in the power of Prayer...I will be in a retreat for the next couple of days, doing some soul-searching and praying to the Great Void for peace on earth...Join me if you will in one of the prayers below:
From Judaism:"Help us,O G-d,to lie down in peace, and awaken us to life on the morrow. May we always be guided by Your good counsel, and thus find shelter in Your tent of peace. Praise to You,O G-d of peace, whose love is always with us."
From Christianity: "Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, let me sow pardon, where there is doubt, faith;where there is despair, hope;where there is darkness, light;and where there is sadness, joy."
From Islam: "Guide us,O God,on the path of perfect harmony, the path of those whom You have blessed with the gifts of peace, joy, serenity, and delight, the path of those who have not been brought down by anger, the path of those who have not been lost along the way."
From Buddhism: "May all beings be free of suffering. May all have happiness and contentment. May all be peaceful and at ease. May all be protected from harm and fear. may all be healed. May all awaken from their illusions and be enlightened. May all be free. May all beings abide in the great innate peace."
From Hinduism:"May there be peace on earth. May the waters flow peacefully; may the herbs and the plants grow peacefully; may all the divine powers bring unto us peace. The Supreme Lord is peace. May we all be in PEACE PEACE PEACE;and may that peace come into each of us."
AMEN
