Emotional claptrap thinly disguising publicity. My advice: blacklist any company that does this kind of thing and then delete it.

No need to go to such extreme lengths LENA, just be on your toes when dealing with this particular kind of advertising, the origin of that particular story is known well enough, there are several such heart-rending stories in circulation and they are all designed to attract customers, a subtle ruse to relieve you of your cash in the guise of 'Chain Mail'. I hope you were not taken in to the extent that you forwarded it to your friends as they may also not be aware of the practise.

Eliko you are correct that this is an example of chain mail, i.e the original email would have been.

But you have got it all wrong about the rest of what you said!

If you notice, the link to mobile phones is part of venusdee's signature. It appears on all the posts venusdee makes.

It has nothing to do with the email.

Whether chain mail should be forwarded on, or copied here, or whatever, is a separate issue which I shall not go into here.

But this thread here is obviously not a subliminal attempt to sell you a mobile phone.

For example, in other thread I said that my occupation is in developing mobile phones for a large mobile phone manufacturer.

Do you think I said that merely to try and get you, and others, to be brainwashed into going out there and buying a new mobile phone???!!

Regards,
Pete

No such notion entered my head when reading about your occupation Pete_D, the fact that this particular article was linked to the web-site gave rise to my comments which were made concernedly, the story related is an 'old chestnut', well known and used precisely in the manner I highlighted, I think it should be exposed for what it is and I make no apologies for doing so.

Don't get excited venusdee, just try to imagine the mind-set of the person who first came up with the idea of this emotional scam, I know of a person who actually produces these stories for such agencies who wish to use them, she sits huddled over her candle, scribbling with her fingerless gloves over her bony hands and occasionally rubs her sagacious nose, a short cackle now and again as she peers through her horn-rimmed glasses, well, anything to earn a few shekels if you can see what I mean, D'ya see what I mean?.

I think you are probably being sarcastic LOL :D .... but if not, well those names are just given to you depending on how many posts you make e.g other ones are "advanced member", "lecturer" etc.

I begin to wonder if one or more of the levels of advancement have been omitted, perhaps there should be a 'related' or 'non related' level inserted, it could be quite useful don't you think Mr Peters ?.
