but i do have to say this to Kikapu, trust me my friend i am NOT LOST! infact im probably one of the only ones whos nationaliy has not been successfully diluted by the Greeks as yourself, plus i do not believe that my identity is all that dependant on my "nationality", and more importantly i have learned that "playing it safe" usually equals to what i believe is called a "herd psyschology" which is definately not my thing, but if you "feel safe" doing it then be my guest, but definately dont expect me to simply FOLLOW!! thats probably the saddest thing i have heard since i have joined this forum, and its even more sad to see that it comes from a TC! : /
I will take you on your word that you are NOT LOST,Shahmaran, but you are certainly VERY CONFUSED. You accuse kikapu of having a "herd psychology" for sticking his neck out and claiming that he is 100% Cypriot.
Is that a sign of somebody who FOLLOWS as you say?And how does that make Kikapu "feel safe" exactly?
I'd say that those who want to "feel safe" are those who are content to live in an open prison, under military rule (however disguised it might be).
If I were you I would be ashamed that my President had to go cap in hand to the Chief of Staff of Turkey's military, simply to be allowed to pull down a silly bridge that he himself had built earlier...
You say that your identity is not depandent on your "nationality".But you don't tell us what you think your nationality is? What is it? And what is your identity? Elsewhere you said you were Turkish...Can you expand on that a little? What does it feel like to be Turkish? How exactly are you like the Turks from the mainland? Do you think like them? Do you have the same sense of humour? Do you feel as strongly religious as most of them do? Do you have the same mentality and world view? Same cultural beliefs and traditions?Do you share the same history with them? Do you belong to the same gene pool as the Turks from Turkey?
And if you feel Turkish as you say,how did you decide which Turks you feel like? Those in the big cities? Those in mid Anatolian towns? Those in rural Turkey? Those in Asia Minor? Those in the Blacksea region? Those in the North East? South? South East? The ones from Hatay???
@ Birkibrisli,
Thanks for making most of the points I was going to make. You can continue on sleeping now.!!
@ Shahmaran,
I tried to reach to you on a mature level, with my explanation on your "Cypriot Identity". Obviously it was a waste of time. So let me try it at another level, that may be easier for you to grasp it...fingers crossed.!
I'm not ashamed to say I'm a 100% Cypriot.
What does that really mean, you may ask.?
Well, I'll tell you.
Both parents and their parents and their parents are and were all Cypriots, born in Cyprus.
All my aunts and uncles and 1st cousins are and were all Cypriots, born in Cyprus.
If you are 100% Cypriot, then you're going to have Genes from variety of other nationalities, as well as Greek. So you see my friend, I'm not "diluted" by anyone, and not least by the Greeks, since it is part of the "ingredients" of being a "True Cypriot". If you find all this too shocking, then it is time for you to grow up.
Now lets see how "pure" Northern Cypriot you are.??
Are all your family from Cyprus, or were they "transplant" from Turkey 25-30 years ago.?
Were you born in Cyprus, or also came with your parents.?
If you don't have any Greek in you, then you cannot be a "True Cypriot".
Just because you live in the Northern Cyprus, and claim it to be a separate country, does not make you a "True Cypriot", when you don't want to be rest of Cyprus. Cyprus comes as one piece and not in pieces, otherwise, you would call yourself, "I'm part Cypriot, and the other parts, well, I have no idea really", is what you would say.
You yourself said, that you did not know what to call yourself. Does that mean, that you don't belong to Cyprus, if your parents came from outside Cyprus. You don't want to call yourself Turkish or Cypriot, just only to say, I'm from the "TRNC. Great, so what does that make you exactly.??
You see, I know who I am and I do not need to hide from it. You are hiding from your Identity, because perhaps, it is all over the map, if your parents came from Turkey. If they did, and they are "citizens" of the "TRNC", that does not make them Cypriots, and neither it makes you a "True Cypriot".
I'm 100% Cypriot, no "Dilutions" from anywhere. If anything, I'm overly "concentrated" in the "Gene Pool".
I hope you can clear all our concerns here, if you can.
