Joice-anne, are you an EU member? Do you already have a job lined up for when you arrive?

IF you are not EU citizen it will be very difficult to get you a work permit. Your employer will have to prove that he can not find anybody within EU with your skills.

Exactly, Sotos is 100% correct. Also by law.. if you are NON EU, you are supposed to secure your work permit outside of Cyprus, meaning have it complete and ready to go when you arrive..

Who is your employer in Cyprus? If I were you I wouldn't quit my other job until the work permit in Cyprus was ready.

Generally it takes from 4 to 6 months now and may be even more if there're any problems

I agree with Sotos, DON'T quit your other job and move here until your Work Permit is 100% complete and you have a copy of it (whether it's by fax or original etc) Many companies think they can hire you and apply for the permits only to find out that they must prove that they've exhausted every option when trying to hire Cypriot or EU members and that these Cypriots and EU members who have applied for work are not capable of performing the job you are after. 9 times out of 10 the permits do not come through then you are stuck with no work and living illegally (after 3 months) in Cyprus.
