Forum members may like to reflect that 12 of the former inhabitants of Agios Amvrosios/Esentepe are amongst the "missing" and perhaps to spend a few seconds remembering them and the thousands of others in both communities who have paid the ultimate price for our past failures to respect one another.

very tastefully prepared site, i fail to appreciate the usefulness (and it is very usefull) of such information when its presented under such titles, i mean is there anything about cyprus made by greeks that doesnt have propaganda written in in every centimeter square of it? i dont mean to disrespect but it only makes ppl more tolerant and more ignorant towards your cause when you rub it in their face in every opportunity possible....

As far as I am aware the list of villages is accurate and comprehensive. I have found the list very useful both in my travels and in other ways. I quoted the link because it is the only one on the net that I know about that helps answer the questions that were being raised in the above posts. Yes, looking at it today, the suffices in the URL may be unfortunate but do bear in mind that this site was put together some years ago, in less concillitory times and was largely the creation of people with first hand experiences of the events of the Summer of 1974 and that is the emotional context in which it should be seen.

Shame about the titles but NO SHAME for the real issue?
The issue here is that those fascist thieves wiped off the GREEK names from all those GREEK villages.
That much was their inferiority complex, and their hate.

Pyrpolizer

Is it not the case that the majority of towns and villages has names in Greek, Turkish (both official languages of Cyprus) as well as English?

eg

Nicosia, Lefkosa, Lefkosia

What are you talking about man?
The villages and towns don't officially have 2 or 3 names. They have ONE name and that name is registered at the UN.
Lefkosia as written in Greek and as written in Turkish spells exactly the same.

Similarly Turkish names remain Turkish names for example Giaour Imam street, Zia Pasha etc. A slight modification to suit someones language is acceptable but NOT complete change because of complexes against the other ethnicity.

@shahmaran
You are free to call your village Lefke. Its Greek name is NOT Lefkasos, but Lefka. Lefka (in greek) is a tall tree i think in English it is poplar. So your village can keep its slightly modified Greek name.
