Shahmaran, when did the Greek Cypriot forces attack the Lefka enclave in 1974? Wasn't it after Turkey started its invasion and landing on the 20th of july 1974, in fact on the afternoon of the 20th of July, while Turkey started its invasion in the early morning hours of the same day?
What did you expect the GCs to do, once Turkey started its invasion, and the largest part of the National Guard was engaged around all the various armed TC enclaves spread around Cyprus? Isn't it natural that among the first things they would want to do, would be to take over and disarm the enclaves, since they were potentially acting as bridgeheads of the Turkish invading forces, especially those situated in areas near the coast lines such as Lefka, Limnitis, Kazivera and kokkina, so that they disengage those valuable forces and shift them towards the defending of the coastline where the mainland Turkish troops were landing? If the GC NG forces had left the area without disarming the TC enclaves along the Morfou bay, and moved to Kyrenia, wouldn’t the TC troops that were inside those enclaves (some 6-7 battalions all together) take control over the entire coastline of the Morfou bay, from laminitis to kazivera, and allow the Turkish troops to land from this area, instead of Kyrenia?
The purpose of the attacks was only to take over and disarm (neutralize) the enclaves, for obvious strategic reasons, and not to exterminate the TC civilians that were living inside them.
If you do not understand why the GC NG tried to take over and disarm the TC enclaves around Cyprus, then at least explain to us why didn't the GCs attack your villages before the 20th of July, before Turkey started its invasion?
