SERIOUS ACCUSATIONS AGAINST MILTIADES

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Viewpoint » Sat Jan 20, 2007 10:57 pm

Evthdiki? shes been in before and not done to well. I still feel a joint effort would do real well but who are we to say anything the CYBC are law to themselves.

You think its hard to get things done for you in the south you wanna try being a TC. (Perish the thought but just for arguements sake)

Isnt she a GC??

Then why don't you write all these down in a newspaper for people to learn it? Do you think people are stupid? I personally don't care for EV, but I can do whatever I can to help, like I said you have every rigght not to trust me, ask bananiot to help you, OK you may not succeed but at least if they are a close circuit like you say-and I tend to beleive the Cybc is indeed a closed circuit-then expose them publicly. You are not the only one who says they are a closed circuit hundreds of GCs have the same experiences like you.

I read that no country really wants to host the EU song contest because of the great cost and poor ratings. Poor old Ireland got it twice in a row and realised that they had better go back to putting in rubbish songs so that they were sure they would lose. That is why Greece and Turkey always give each other the maximum points. It is a snub rather than a good gesture.

The winner is not always the best song. Other songs however do very well. I don't know about the costs involved to organise it, but for Cyprus it would always be a plus due to incoming tourists.

@Viewpoint

I am not a musician, and I know nothing about the contest. All I know there are some rules, and there is a public invitation for participants. It is NOT UPTO them to organise a GC+TC song. It is UPTO the participants. So if you are a musician just read the public invitation take the relevant documents from Cybc and act accordingly. Do write down on your notebook each and every step you took.

Note when I said EV I did not mean Evridiki. Was this the name of the girl who sung last year, I don't remember.

Anyway to summarise how they do the selection. It is not like it was in the past, i.e Cybc choosing a singer making a song for that singer and sending him over. There is a certain procedure by Eurovision.

1. Public invitation for participation.
2.Musicians collect documents containing the rules.
3. They write their songs, and record them on tape.
4. They submit one envelope with the tapes ANONYMOUSLY (they use a code) and one with their name and code etc. You just throw your envelopes in a big tightly sealed box, nobody knows who submitted what.
5.Only the envelopes containg tapes are opened and heard by a committee.
6.Some 30 songs are selected.
7.Those 30 are played in front of PRESELECTED Audience.Audience is DJs, musicians, theater people, arts people etc.
8.Some of them (I think 7) are selected for public performamce. The envelopes containg the names open.
9. The 7 songs are played in front of a wide audience and the procedure is live on TV.There is televoting and the best song goes to Eurovision.

This is roughly the procedure, I might not be very accurate on some parts.

So VP what you did, i.e to go to CyBc and suggest them, is not the procedure anymore. It is not upto them to do anything. Steps 5 and 6 depend totally on Cybc though.

WRITE A SONG IN ENGLISH VP. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THEY WOULD REALISE IT IS A TC BEHIND IT. So if your song is good you will be included in the final 7 for public audience. Then all you have to do is convince as many TCs as you can to televote for you.

Nothing anyone can do this is just the tip of the iceberg and the type of issues we TCs would face in a unified Cyprus without safeguards. You cling onto to the 1960 consitituiton which you hated so much you tried to change and now you dont even adhere to it, in all these years you have shown your true biased face by not sending one Turkish Cypriot song or singer, this reflects very much on GCs and their intollernece of TCs and is a prime example of why we will never feel part of the "RoC" or want to unify without strict guidelines and plenty of rigid safeguards to ensure you are not allowed to act like have done and will do in the future.

By the way your singer last year was a Greek girl Annet Artani (anything but TC) with a song Why angels cry, she didnt make it through the semis.

Still Greek.

So you see Pyr not as easy as you think the discrimination continues and the only thing that really saves us now is the TRNC the place we feel we belong with all its faults its home.
