LEFKOSA (AA) - Rauf Denktas, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has stated that there will not be any solution to the Cyprus problem any time before October 3, 2005. ''A solution is not on the horizon as the Greek-Cypriots must first find a solution to their own problems,'' said Denktas, without further elaborating.
According to Denktas, the problem has to do with not Turkish-Cypriots' rights on paper but on territory and independence. ''Turkey will continue to recognize the TRNC. Turkey is actually trying to determine what should be its approach to the Greek Cypriot administration,'' told Denktas. ''It is about time that all nations should realize that the recognition of only the Greek Cypriot administration as the legitimate government of Cyprus is an obstacle to a lasting solution in Cyprus.''
