Sotos wrote:Salaries are for sure much lower here. But the cost for apartment, child care and that kind of things is lower. Some products like electronics are more expensive but you can always order them online from shops like pixmania.com.cy which they deliver to your door within 3 days. Where in Australia you live? If you live in a big city like Sydney then you will find life in a small Cyprus city very different. No huge shopping malls, more limited choices in some things etc.

Thanks for your reply Sotos, I have been living in Sydney for the past 30 years. As for the city life, and shopping malls, I cant stand them. Besides it isnt safe over here anymore, everyday on the radio and TV you hear of people being shot and killed, and my greatest fear is the safety of my children. There have been a massive increase in child sex offences the past 10 years and things dont look at settling down. I think Australias problem is they have become to Americanised and our way of life has changed. The governments have done a great job to scare the australian people with all their politically correct rubbish and terrorism propoganda that it has influenced the way people perceive one another, however thats another subject, thanks once again for your response sotos :)

Many people i know have tried to do the same thing re koumbare, but its always the same govenda time and time again. You have a very bomba profession and you and the wife could assit the medical profession.

The harsh reality is fil that your used to earning and living a differant life and belive me now Kibro is smoking on the property sector so unless you have a spidi and lires to start stay where you are. 8)

Yiannakis, Id say give it a go matey - nothing to lose
your kids are young....if you dont like it you could always move back and at least you tried....

I know lots of aussie australians, myself included who moved to cyprus and then returned
although for me it was a working /fun holiday and I knew Id be back oneday....
the ones with family did eventually find it tough and came back...its amazing how attached to australia we become....

Yiannakis
I see you comparing prices to Australia

that is your first mistake
once you move dont compare as there is no comparison at all -that is where people go wrong IMO
as you start to compare you past life to your current one then get confused etc

salaries are much lower in cyprus...no matter what profession you are in, some day to day things are cheaper but most are more expensive as the salary is lower....
child care is expensive in Australia - I pay $50 per day but I earn $200 perday...so its not too bad

Petrol is much more expensive in Cyprus....

I agree for sure Casonova
but no harm in him and his wife giving it a go
if you feel you are at that stage in your life - go for it!
Life is all about experiences right?

Each to there own but i am sick of this RAT RACE in Australia!!

Totally understand where Yiannakis is coming from. All our government wants is money, highest taxes, crime rate is up , cameras on every corner and bills bills bills! you cant do this and you cant do that.. just to name a few. :eyecrazy:

Make excess of 100k here but would rather get less income and have a life. cyprus climate, low crime rate and lay back attitude is fine with me..

Cant wait to move away from this prison camp and enjoy the wonderful Cyprus lifestyle.. 8) 8) 8)

Leaving Melbourne Jan 2008
