The best maps are very much out-of-date. The Brits issued a series of 1:63360 maps in (I think) 1928 covering the whole island, almost as good as the UK OS maps. They are worth their weight in gold, as nothing has been done since. Even the cadastral maps are very inaccurate with errors delineating property of many tens of metres in many cases. My land has changed in dimensions and position, according to the cadastral maps, twice in the last 8 years. I now own nearly 100 m² more than I bought and the altitude has changed as well, without even a significant earthquake.
