NO T/C WAS KILLED BY G/Cs 5 YEARS BEFORE TURKISH INVASION

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

NO T/C WAS KILLED BY G/Cs 5 YEARS BEFORE TURKISH INVASION

Postby miltiades » Sun Jan 14, 2007 10:35 pm

It is time to lay to rest the myth that G/Cs were massacaring T/Cs .
I posed this question many times to VP the Champion of partition and protagonist in the fairy tale of massacres by G/Cs against T/Cs . True murders were committed during the conflict years of 63-64 , both sides are guilty of killing their own Keith and kin, but my question is :HOW MANY TURKISH CYPRIOTS WERE KILLED BY G/Cs 5 YEARS BEFORE THE INVASION. The myth constantly reiterated is that Turkey just HAD to intervene in order to save lives. So who will be the bearer of figures , or rather the one to accept that NOT ONE SINGLE T/C LOST HIS LIFE 5 YEARS PRIOR TO TURKEYS INVASION. Those who are continuing to distribute lies are those that have as their ulterior motive the division of our people .T/Cs and G/Cs share a common land called Cyprus .Lets put myths to rest.WE CAN LIVE TOGETHER IN PEACE AS CYPRIOTS.

ofcource nobody died.
it is a fact that when the "turk-eater" grivas (whom turkey wanted out atfer the tragic events of kofinou) came to cyprus to create paramilitary organisation it was known to tukrey and denktash. both got assurances that "the nose of no turk will open" by his presence.
they actually all hoped that he would manage to overthrow makarios, whom all saw as being the one hindering a settlement.

the communication channels between the nationalist groups in cyprus is something that we often forget to mention. it doesnt suit them to do that....

there is also evidence which suggest that both nationalists groups we are financially supported from the same funder.... they used to be called "anti-communist" funds... we all know by whom

So lets get this straight what you are saying is that because there were no deaths in the last 5 years upto 1974 the Turkish intervention was unwarranted and that we should all ignore the fact that the "RoC" was is disarray, with no solution, TCs were living in ghettos which the GCs prospered, the deaths and refugess between 1963 to 1974, the coup and the immenent danger to TC lives, a time bomb waiting to explode, what was that quote of samson, we will anniahalate the TCs in 20 minutes??

You are islotating a specific period in time to support your arguement but not taking the whole period from 1960 which lead up to 1974, this just shows your mindset and lack of understanding of the difficult postion TCs were in and try to relate the levels of deaths to whether or not action should be taken to protect and save a whole community from danger and harm, even aniahalation.

Those that died in the camps under terrible conditions do not count either. Can’t be bothered to find out the numbers. Pointless thread.

VP WROTE: AND TAKE NOTICE >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
""" because there were no deaths in the last 5 years up to 1974 the Turkish intervention was unwarranted """

So you are accepting that 5 years before the invasion NO T/C WAS KILLED BY G/Cs. How on earth can you carry on with the nonsense that the G/Cs were massacring T/Cs , and yet 5 WHOLE years before Turkey invaded NOT ONE SINGLE MURDER. Get your head out of the sand and accept the inevitable truth that G/Cs and T/Cs can live in peace just as they did 5 years before the invasion.Let us have no more nonsense spoken , let our listeners hear you loud and clear. NO T/C WAS MURDERED BY G/CS AND VISE VERSA 5 F.NG YEARS BEFORE THE Invasion does this this tell you anything, here we have a power of some 70 million invading an island in order to safeguard the security of T/Cs , THAT NONE WAS KILLED 5 YEARS PREVIOUSLY.Wake up VP .
We can live in peace together just as we did 5 Years before the invasion.

"We can live in peace together just as we did 5 Years before the invasion."

Now why does this remind me of an Alabama redneck saying that the niggers were happy under slavery. Why can't we go back and live in peace like we did before they were freed.

miltiades there is some truth in what is said. the fact that there was no killing doesnot mean that the life in the enclaves was what would be called "gcs and tcs living together".

i agree with you that we can live together, but that doesnt mean that everything was peaceful before 1974. acknowledging our history will only help us move forward.

Clerides comments on the intercommunal talks

In the year 1972, despite the internal situation amongst the Greek Cypriot community, I reached agreement with Mr. Denktash on all constitutional issues; except on the issue regarding the central local government authority.

On that issue the Turkish side abandoned its demand for the grouping of Turkish villages together in order to form areas of Turkish local government. It accepted that the House of Representatives would legislate, by simple majority, the laws relating to local government and that the two Communal Chambers would issue regulations, within the Laws enacted by the House, to be applied by the respective Greek and Turkish local government authorities. The Communal Chambers would also act as co-ordinators of the respective local government authorities. Administrative supervision would be exercised by a government civil servant. Further, agreement had already been reached on the power and functions of local government authorities. . .

Looking back at that formula I cannot but state that a cardinal error was committed by Makarios . . . , [who] considered [the formula] to be a form of concealed federation. . . . In local government autonomy, the element of two separate and geographical cohesive areas did not exist. The Greek Cypriots and the Turkish Cypriots would have remained in their villages and towns and would have enjoyed local government autonomy under their respective communities. Furthermore the scope of local government agreed to was much more limited than that of the powers and functions of a federal province, canton or state. Makarios in rejecting the September 1972 formula on local government failed to evaluate correctly the internal situation in Cyprus, i.e. the growing danger of a coup by the Greek military forces in Cyprus acting on orders from the Greek Junta, the reaction of Turkey to such a development, and the warning given by the United States. C

The internal situation amongst the Greek Cypriot community was such, the risk of a military coup by the Greek forces in Cyprus so great, and the danger of a Turkish invasion so real, that the formula of September 1972 on local government should have been accepted. Had it been accepted, an agreement would have been reached on the solution of the Cyprus problem, which would have left Cyprus with a much improved constitution. Turkey would have been thus deprived of any reason, and of any excuse to invade Cyprus. The Greek junta would have been prevented by the U.S. Government from attempting a military coup, and Cyprus would have been spared the Turkish invasion and its destructive effects.

You ignore 99.9% of the post and concentrate on what you want to hear. Typical GC mentality, ignore it, it will go away.

Well why dont we stretch the 5 year period to NINE YEARS ,that's from 1965 to 1974 . Nine years VP , HOW MANY WERE KILLED EITHER G/C OR T/C .
Foreign" students " please take note. Not one single Turkish Cypriot lost his life as a result of conflict with Greek Cypriots for NINE years prior to Turkey invading. The myth was created after 1974 by those determined to split our people and divide our island. I have said it a million times that Cyprus belongs to us all , not to Turkey or Greece , VP will twist my words constantly ignoring the fundamental points that I have always made. Cyprus where there are no majorities or minorities , Cyprus where a T/C president would be just as welcome as a G/C , Armenian or from other ethnic background provided He or She fly the Cypriot flag.
