Postby shanie » Wed Jan 10, 2007 11:18 pm

Hello, moving out in march, just trying to plan budget. can anyone tell me these costs on a 2 bedroom apartment in Peiga per year, please.

1. Elec/gas bill
2. Council tax
3. medical insure
4. water rates
5. car insurance
6. house insurance

Does anyone know what tax we will have to pay on our income? Thanks

air con and washing machine a definate. we are really not sure on how we are going to make a living yet, we are trying to leave rat race behind in uk, so maybe me and hubby will both work part time maybe eventually go self employed? All depends on how much money we need to live. I am in late 20's so will still need to work , but thankfully will have no morgage or rent. I keep seeing /hearing about low wages and high living costs. :?

I see from other threads that £1000.00 - £1200.00 seems to be average wage, if this is acurate, there is not a lot of tax being paid?????

Fair play Shanie, your about the same age as me and my good lady. We can't go there yet. The plan is to pay off the mortgage we have on our pad over there and move out. Should take another couple of years then we have the choice. What we'll do when we are there who knows? Sell cans of coke on the beach, hire out deckchairs, who knows? But what ever it will be it will be a relaxed job (compared to UK), we'll have no mortgage and stress free!!!

I am interested to know how you get on, being same age etc. Keep me posted.

As for costs. I have only been told the costs for visiting Cyp 3/4 times per year.

Here are the costs which its costing us
1. Elec/gas bill - £4 CYP each per quarter just to connect.
2. Council tax - Ours in Pissouri is near £48 year i think
3. medical insure - would apply
4. water rates - £cheap! £4-10 per month
5. car insurance - dont know
6. house insurance - I have been quoted £120 per year but that was based on letting

You are brave people, I am also very jealous!

Hi Shanie,
Here is what we pay at the moment and we live here.

Elec £35cyp month (Dont use A/C)
Gas is £5.35cyp bottle
Council Tax £75cyp Year
I was quoted £35cyp month for Medical Insurance
Water £10cyp month
Car Insurance I have Eirocomp so a little more expensive @ £210cyp year. Can get fully comp for around £180cyp year
House/buildings insurance £150 year
Telephone/Internet(Broadband) without calls is around £34cyp month from Cyta, there are some good packages at the moment, from people like Primetel, TV/Tele/Internet @ £29.99 month. However you will have to live in the area's they do it in, its mainly limmasol way and surrounding area's. Also in Nicosia.

HTH
